The triangle in the original post is a right triangle.

hmm...

that was my original guess too. so is it an equilateral triangle? or is it isosceles?

There's no angles represented so it's hard to tell. stupid snail.

Someone had her smart ass candy today

I concede to that one. I guess it has been about 8 years since I was geometry.

i still stand by my comment.

stupid snail.

Alright, someone please explain to me how there isn't a right angle in the triangle in the original post?

Seems as clear as day to me... Perspective and all?

Posted by Masonious on Jun-19-2007 22:51:

that looks like a right angle to me @.@

a 90 and two 45s

lol funny thing is i thought oh its 19...but then not being in math for 7 years i thought there was more to it lol

well the point of the exercise seems to be to demonstrate that appearances can be deceiving.

oh, and snails are stupid.

Posted by chris harrington on Jun-19-2007 22:52:

it cant be a right triangle if all the sides are the same length

why are you saying that all the sides are the same length? just because two are?

1. a right angle would be indicated by a square between the two sides
2. where the hell do you see a right angle? (ms paint please)

I guess that is the same thought here. Whenever something seemed easy, it was surely wrong.

Posted by RJT on Jun-19-2007 22:53:

Edit: Wait, wouldn't a square, divided in half diagonally, be a right triangle with equidistant sides?

They aren't too bright really.

Insufficient data. Needs angle information.

the ticks on the sides represent equal dimensions.

i thought x was longer than the other 2 sides. it is, isn't it?
