The closest black hole is only 1500 light years away from us. RUN !!1!! ! .... where ?

The explosions are not thought to emanate from within the black hole, a location where neither matter nor information can escape, but from around the black hole, where matter from its companion star may be heating up as it falls in. Astronomers are working to understand why V4641 acts strangely even for a black hole, as the explosions it creates fade within minutes, and appear at different times in different bands of light.

1500 light years >? I'd say we are pretty safe in this life time. Unless astronomers bust a pothead move and there calculations are all messed up.

but you don't know the condition of the black hole in current time. What we see now is what happened on that star 1500 years ago. What if the black hole started expanding and sucking matter 1475 years ago ? In 25 years we will start seeing the effects.

Its one of those rare films that combine scifi with the Supernatural. It definitely got creepy when the portal that opens, Was a gateway straight to Hell.

This scenario is not to pleasant. All tho 25 years does sound better than what the Mayan calender that is set to end 2012. Thats what 5 years left.

Saw it a loooong time ago. I just remember the end where a dude was flying back towards the ship going "I'm coming back for you motherfuckas!" and someone shot him with a rocket launcher or some shit. And then at the end when "Funky Shit" started to play during the credits

this was an awesome movie....really scared the shit outta me when i saw it. awesome concept too, combining sci-fi with horror

from what I've read, they already block traffic through earlier fixed torrent software ports (i believe Azurues used 6881?)
Then later torrent software used random ports anytime the software was loaded up (although its mostly useless if you don't have a fixed port since the router can limit traffic through certain ports)
Best way is just to find a random unused port (google: list of ports), go to your router configuration, open that port specifically for your torrents. If it doesn't work anymore, just repeat with another port. Encryption will assist in case your ISP wants to find out what exactly is passing through that needs to have 10 gigs down and 3 gigs up every single day through one port. (FBI also recently gained access to monitor the internet traffic of any ISP's member as of, a month ago I believe. RIAA/MPAA are currently trying to sneak in as well)
They might call you, but that's never happened to me before.

Event Horizon is a classic. very few cheap scares (did it even have any?). an element of uncertainty+complexity, gore used very well, and that Jurassic Park guy (Sam Weimz or something?) It's a winner.

i enjoyed that movie.

If you liked Event Horizon, then you will love Sunshine. Sunshine uses a similar formula to Event Horizon, but gets it right. Top fucken movie . It's like 2001 Space Odyssey, Solaris & Event Horizon all in one movie, but with better effects.

The first half freaked the living shit out of me. Didn't help that I as watching it alone in the dark with headphones on -plus I have this odd but severe phobia of decompression- but at about the point Fishburne starts hearing voices, pushes his head against the wall to regain his compsure, and gets that quick intense vision, I'd had enough. I couldn't take it anymore and turned the movie off.

The next day I carried on from where I left, in full sunlight without headphones. And although it was rather gory I handled the second half no problem. Heh, funny how a setting can really effect your movie watching experience.

Awsome movie, one of my favourites, and one of the few horror movies I actually enjoyed.

I watched this shit after id had a few bowls.


It made it that more enjoyable.
