sorry to hear that Greg, but you're probably better off. jobs like that are a dime a dozen. when one door closes another one opens!

honestly if i were you i'd search high and low for a job as a graphic artist. there's no reason to work in service industry or retail when you've got other talents. i got my first job doing design a month before i graduated high school - working part time so i could still do school and all that. granted, jobs like that are a lot harder to find. i got totally lucky with finding that job... but it doesn't hurt to look, and you'll gain an incredible amount of experience.

i don't know what the market is like where you live, but seriously... keep checking craigslist, local papers, internet job sites, etc.

Go back to the restaurant as a patron, ask to see the manager, and proceed to yell at him that this is the worst management of a restaurant that you've seen in your life. Although now that you don't have a job I don't know how you're going to be able to pay for dinner.

+1 on search for a design job. You aren't half bad at it, and certainly better than loads of other people getting paid decent money to do it.

Keep your head up - I know what it's like to lose a job while you're in Uni trying to make a dime on your own, but jobs like those come and go, Allied Nations is probably forever. Probably.

I don't know - I'm on a 20 minute smoke break from work and that seemed like it might make you feel better.

Srsly, design.

My boss said he'd give me a good reference and every restaurant in town would know this one...

yeah, you're right I suppose...

*takes another swig of beer and lights the pipe*

he's still a good reference though, they are just not doing as well as they want to this summer which is one of the main reasons i think

i have to echo lucid - you should try your hand at freelance graphic design. your work is pretty nice. do you have a portfolio together? possibly you could try to find a job as a paid intern in a studio. A few years back I was able to do just that for 12/hourly. This way you don't have to be perfect and knowledgable about all of the industry things like printing, paper samples, inks, folding techniques, scoring, cutting, etc, because it's expected part of your being there is for learning.

freelance is a ton of work promoting yourself like deejaying, and starting out can be as difficult and spotty, but when the big contract comes it life is easy! especially when you do a lot of under the table things

i have to imagine in montreal there are a ton of small places looking for small creative work

i'm one of those people who thrives on chaos lol

Chaos is a regular part of my everyday life, shit is relatively tranquil up here in canada... I've just never really had many jobs and this was the first time i was "fired" (he never used that word, i wanted him to. YOU'RE FIRED! lol ) I was waiting for him to say it, never came

The only thing is this place is so incredibly "scene" related, busting into a different niche can be quite the animal
