hahaha... i love this thread.

i almost always moving/dancing when i play. i just love leaving the booth, and dancing the crowd. i do it every chance i get. yes, i dance like dork. song plays -> then my body just starts making all these involuntary movements than can be interpreted as "dancing". i don't care what people think, i just want to have a good time like everyone else.

i, along with a few other well known locals have started out by going to raves and being candy kids waaaaay back, many years ago

there is one VERY well known local that used to rock the mickey mouse gloves and everything

point being, you don't see us dance much anymore (unless we're very drunk and/or high) but when you do we're usually rocking it out, to the point where people will stop dancing and watch

i think when you begin with an intimate relationship with the music like that, i think you tend to have more feeling and depth in your sets, you tell storys and have better flow than just playing songs

this obviously isn't always the case because i know djs that can't dance worth shit, but most djs i know can cut up a dancefloor like no ones business

didnt read any of the responses in this thread so excuse me ...

...but....LOL if the music dont move you....WTF ARE YOU DOING!? LOL

Yeah that was Crasher at Don Valley Stadium (2000GC I think they called it) then I think (rather than Summer Sound System)

I think the left handed deck occurrence was a couple of years before that.

Francis Grasso was a dancer before he became a dj.

That says something.

let the music move you, and if you end up dancing to the music, then so be it.

Nem = Ex B-Boy from the 80's

I love dancing, it just tends to go with my personality as a DJ. But making the comparison stating that to be good at one to do the other isn't totally fair.

Being a good mechanic doesn't make you a good driver, but both could share the love of cars. Some people will be good at both.
It's all down to the genetics of the individual.

Cheers
Nem

Can someone ID that track?

And yes, you must dance. If you can't spin on your head while you spin records, you're a bad dj.

i use to go out and dance all the time. but then i started djing
and now the only time i dance is when im djing.

and no you dont have to be a good dancer to be a good dj
i have seen some great dj's with some shity ass dance moves
but then again do you really care what you look like
when your rocking out, it is all about having fun right

lol

Nem's a b-boy, who would have thought?

Posted by Dojomaster26 on Jul-21-2007 03:48:

Nem: Got a video of that?

I love to dance when I'm mixing, but I'm not a great dancer in general. I jokingly tell everyone that's one of the perks of DJing, "I can dance all I want to in that booth, and all you see is my head bobbing!"
