This was stupid. Make things difficult for the organizers and jeopardize future events. Kind of an asshole move.

Last year was an awesome show despite the heat and water-access problems (they ran out at like 130am and had to do an emergency run). It catere to so many different genre's it was awesome. I remember "zoning-out" in front of Diggers and Deep Dish, completely missing the C_Lawrence show. Ahh memories. Still had an awesome time this year.

water & drinks?!
what about the tracks he threw down, the good/bad transitions & overall continuity to the night? how was that?
i'm so pissed that i couldn't make it, but i want to know what i missed. he probably had time to drop a majority of the tracks he brought over!

I thought armin was fantastic .. got in at 9 and uptil 11 or so he kept it quite mellow with the occasional big breakdown track but after that he really picked up the pace and it went uphill from there ...

only disappointment and its not exclusive to this party is armins selection of classics towards the end are getting predictable .. would be nice to see him pull of a surprise tune like his mix of aria - dido or viola or just another random oldie that djs dont play that often ...

the crowd was very good..i actually ended up going all the way to the front at the end because there was absolutely no pushing or shoving .. and i agree about the VIP, i ended up upgrading as well and after hearing of the prices they were charging for drinks , i guess the ticket was more than compensated for ... the bathroom setup was also nicely done .. funny incident with that early int he night when there was a huge line of us waiting to get in and it turned out that was only because everyone was not aware that there were multiple stalls inside to do your business so a lot of WTF's when someone who went inside actually bothered to tell us

oh ya and a thumbs down to that idiot who came on stage in the stilts and was decided to throw himself into the crowd smacking the back of my head with one of his stilts in the process ..that really hurt

Not to complain, but I think it would off been much better if Armin came on at midnight instead of playing 8 hours straight.

Posted by mar46017 on Jul-16-2007 19:20:

Does anyone have any short (or long) video clips to upload?

actually, it probably wouldve been better if 16 bl came on at 11 in the main room and then desyn at 2 to close it out.

It's an impossible task JC.

In my opinion it was one of the best nights I have photographed in a long time!!!

Giant A+

Well, I thought that he threw down some great tracks from beginning to end. He went on at 8:05pm and played till 4am. He played with Rank 1 for about 30 minutes, starting with Armin vs. Rank 1, "This World is Watching Me"... which I thought was incredible. They were side by side having a blast. Rank 1 also played Airwave... I can't name/remember the other tracks.

There was some weird moments however, the stilt-walker 'falling' into the crowd and crowd surfing was great, weird and funny. Of course the crowd getting soaked with the fake storm from above was just plain surreal.

Armin's mixing and transitions sounded great to me, although there were a few times he slammed it over to the next track, which I hate.

I thought the sound quality was average at best. The bass seemed to e waaaay to overmodulated. When Armin dropped "Lift" and "Oceanic" you could not hear any of the high-end, just that distored bass, when the break-down hit. I guess there could be a couple of reasons why... The sound guys might have not known how the track is supposed to sound, had their earplugs in too tight, or just got too drunk towards the end. Maybe it was just me...

Overall, the vibe was excellent. The people I met were waay cool and the event was extremely well organized. I bought the VIP ticket and tipped the bartender $20 right when I arrived and asked her to keep em coming until close... whew!

There was also an excellent vibe in the "Pegasis Weight-loss Center" for Desyn, 16BL and Jason, although it was like an oven in there and the Kryo was only momentary relief at every breakdown. Desyn was bringing it when I stopped in... It was fun though, losing weight with everyone smiling, high-fiving and having a good time.

Posted by cassa.de.x on Jul-16-2007 20:04:

I noticed a chill, younger crowd (20-30) who were just happy to be outdoors on a pleasant night.

16BL...solid mixing when he was on, playing thumpy prog house, I could only ID Dirty Laundry, Tom Middleton dub.

Desyn kept the prog house vibe going from 2-4. The cool nitrogen gas was pretty cool; at times there was so much nitrogen on the dance floor that you couldn't see three feet in any direction. I'm not sure what was with the bunk-ass, poorly-ventilated Pegasus parking garage venue, though. I wrote Giant about water prices.

I pretty much agree with all of this. The vibe was great. People were really friendly and not a lot of attitude at all.

That is so awesome. Desyn is hilarious.

Yeah Desyn is a really cool guy!!!

I got a funny story about that night. When I was backstage taking pictures of Desyn I started to get thirsty because of the heat in the room. His mgr was like help yourself to the drinks. Usually most DJ's request expensive liquor behind on stage. But Desyn had all these protein drinks (Myoplex)and protein bars. Same stuff I buy at my gym. We were cracking up!!!

I must've had about 150 grams of protein that night. LOL

I am actually surplise to see only one comment on this thread about the sound system.. It Sucked!!!!!!! Yes it was like this all night..
The sad thing there is that only a handfull of people noticed, while many others danced and jump like nothing was wrong..
Now Imagine if the sound would have been great, this people would have wet their panties...

Just as you mention the High-Ends would completely be over powered by the LOUD distored bass that follow the breakdown.. The Lyrics to many tracks, could not be heard or recognised.. I mean when he dropped Beautiful there was not a single word you could hear all you heard was distored bass.. GREAT NIght but I think it would have been even better of the sound system worked.. I mean this was not a HIP HOP show..

Armin had a great set nicely progressed through out the night and really did know how to keep the crowd jumping..

Also dont want to sound critical but I mean I think the show could have done with out the vocals of Jennifer Rene, I mean so many tech issues with her mic and for Justine Suissa they either fixed her MIC or she was lip singing because she sounded soooo GOOD...

Rank ONE was a highlight specially hearing Airwave but again the damn bass messed it up.. Communication performed live and also life less ordinary

And Oh YES!!!

FOR AN ANGEL Great track for a Great EVENT!!

I didn't know Justine Suissa was there. Do remember what songs she sung???

I was backstage and on stage for most of the part taking pictures I can't believe I didn't see her.

ohhh my goodness!!! I need to buy several of these now! Are there any more cool shirts like this that you guys know of?

@ the soundsystem... I was at the very front of the stage to the right side from the crowd's perspective. Stage left from Armin's perspective. I noticed they were using JBL Vertek Series Line Arrays. The main arrays were in stacks of 9 but I know you need at least 10 for them to get the best possible sound and get a 'coupling advantage' I was down the street when I was walking to the event and didn't really hear the music all that well and when I got in, the sound seemed to be turned down. On the right side from the crowd's perspective, it seemed that something got stuck in the driver of one of the woofers because there was an awful sound that made it seem like the driver got blown out or who knows what. Later, that annoying sound went away maybe because they turned off that woofer somehow.

Later throughout the night, the bass got really loud and I agree with you guys, it was impossible to hear the vocals in many of the tracks. I think the engineer behind the board was turning up the bass continuously throughout the night. After about 6 hours, my hearing got really bad and I knew what tracks he was playing but I think my hearing got to the point where it sounded like the melodies coming out of the speaker of those songs didn't correspond with the ones in my head. Either the remix was a new "dub mix" or my hearing got warped! I also saw heat lines coming off of the woofers and thats something that I have never seen happen before! I liked the sound for the most part but there was an overabundance of bass. There is such thing as subtractive EQ and maybe the engineer should try that. I wish I heard the lyrics to some of those tunes because I was tracklisting the whole night and I had nothing to put down for some of those vocal IDs.

It really was enjoyable and I thought the weather was too good to be true... the whole time I was wondering when it was going to get hotter or colder but it seemed to stay the same! I don't know about that "rain" people were talking about... I was at the very front and I didn't feel anything... I was actually looking into the sky and seeing if there was any clouds because I was thinking "what if" it did rain. It was a really beautiful day in LA and I had a great time!!!

Oh and Susana sung Shivers and If You Should Go and the other vocalist (in orange) was Jennifer Rene. Both were very good!!

Surprisingly, bars were empty.

The positive side is that I did not need to go restroom so often and when I went there was no line.

At one point during the night there there was a guy on the side of the stage trying to get someone's (the sound guy's?) attention. Something wasn't right.
