It's not 'everything', and it can serve as a good basis of judgment for people who are looking at pages and pages of Mixes/Tracks and can't really decide what to check out. Plus, it could be good incentive/exposure for the people that get high votes.

There are no prizes as such, so it isn't even strictly a competition.

I'm not a fan of this idea either. Spam, some kind of marketing, all of this would be the part of it and even if it wouldn't be as big as, say, during the DJMag Top 100 voting, it would be present. Why should we add this element when we are perfectly happy just right now, focusing only on music and quality of the output?

You'll never know unless we try it.

I'm surprised some of you'll are against this. It isn't cutthroat competition of any kind, there are no awards, just rewarding people who are working hard and coming up with quality stuff with some recognition from fellow TA's.

The 'global' kind have been done to death and yes, admittedly would be very boring, but tracks and mixes by TA members put up to vote would be very fun.
