Me = Idma.

I don't even have to write reviews anymore! =)

I haven't had a trance night in a while. I am glad I went to this.
It was pretty good, but I am not used to just standing there and waiting for the fucking buildup to end.

I WANT TEH HARD BASS, FFS!!!!!!1111111111

Just over a year ago if I went to this, I would have been able to recognize pretty much any tune. BUT NOT ANYMORE! I only knew a couple of tracks, haha.

Markus Schulz Vs Chakra - I Am
Vincent De Moor - Fly Away (Cosmic Gate Remix)

I really like how Markus interacts with the crowd. It gives everyone a lot more positive energy when a DJ does that, in my opinion.

It was nice me@ting some new TAs. And the old ones. Chinamon, I am sorry for scaring you with the ass grab. You were jumpy last night. Hmmph.

I am never going out on a Wednesday AGAIN (unless TC, and/or POTD are spinning)! I didn't make it into work today. :<

Overall his first 45 were stellar. Just massive groovy tracks. He lulled for a bit but picked up up again. Ill have the interview I did with him edited and on my site in a few days hopefully.

What time did he start?

And damn, you're quick with the interviews. Katie still can't finish the one we did in December of 2006.

Hahaha, stfu, skotina. YOU NEVER HELPED ME WITH THAT SHIT!

He started at twelve thirty.

If i remember correctly he mixed

Mr. White (Ruben De Ronde Remix) into Dubfire - Roadkill, this was my favorite part of the night...King of my castle keeps getting better and better everytime I hear it!

apparently its only in the guys bathroom its warm...get the girls to fill your bottle

I would have filled it up, but our washroom had warm water as well...

Unless I accidentally went into the men's washroom. :/

wow what a great night

got there at like 12 40, guest list was still open! what a nice surprise

no line up, club not packed at all, nice air conditioning not hot
Markus was already ripping it up, hes so fucking good I love this guy. He played exactly what trance should sound like, fucking amazing tunes not boring at all. And I heard king of my castle siiiiiiiickkk

great sound system, totally perfect for trance not like guvernment where the bass kills highs/mids

only bad thing: sausage fest. ratio was something like 1 to 20 haha, dont care tho I was too lost in the music to care

9/10 couldnt ask for a better birthday present

Markus is #1 !!! ive seen him like 5-6 times already and he just keeps getting better and better. So chilling and down to earth too, smiling all the time and fucking loving it. Great dj, its nice that he comes here so often.

Posted by dj_souvlaki on Jul-19-2007 18:27:

all i can say for this night is just wow!!!! i was waiting for a set to compare to the one i heard in ottawa and this is a close competitor.

i give this night a 9 out of 10. the best birthday party i have ever had. such good music. such good mixing. i fucking loved every minute of it

we need more trance in toronto!!!!!!!!!!!

bahhaha, even I remember this. You jumped like a cat that's been startled while it was sleeping.

hahaha yo get this guys. i was chilling with a girl who's B-day it was last night. this random ( i find out later that he is a n00b on TA) comes up to her and starts trying to dance with her and shit. our other friend intervenes and says:

"It's her birthday!!"

and then buddy replies:

"Oh shit! Let me get the DJ," which was Markus at the time, "to do a shoutout for you!!!!!!!!"

we just shook our heads and laughed!!

that's my funny of the night.

Posted by Superstring on Jul-19-2007 18:38:

There is cold water in the guys' bathroom. The trick is to go to the last stall... (the one for disabled)... There's a separate tap there...

Chinamon: FUCK TRANCE!

LOL

Anyways, I arrived with Barry to Markus's hotel for an interview (I listened, Barry did the interview) and just chilled out with Markus for few mins before he was due to hit the decks.
Markus is one of the most relaxed dudes ever. The interview I thought was filled with some interesting tidbits for all you Schulz fans. Lots of thoughts from Schulz about the album, among other things. Worth a listen when Barry gets it up.
Markus put up with a lot of my questions. Asked him if he went on any boat cruise and he talked about one in middle of winter, from Sweden to Finland and the cruise ship was like an icebreaker... How cool is that for venue? Oh, and him and Armin on the decks. (hears fanboys/girls swoon. lol)

Got in the club at 12:30. Crowd seems to be pretty pumped already. Venue... Eh. Kinda reminds me of cleaner version of Viva, and no Asian sketch. Was only about half full though.

Markus hour 1 was awesome. Very hard, edgier prog. I didn't expect him to start off this hard and the crowd was going nuts. (or everyone in there was sketched out on something) Markus was very enjoying himself going nuts on the decks.
Hour 2 was very trancey and I think the crowd liked it for a bit, but was starting to lose out. Filled with typical tunes from recent Schulz playlist. It wasn't too bad. Even the vocal tracks didn't piss me off.

Hour 3 he started back with some harder stuff again and the crowd was back into it. Then more trance. Kinda back and forth. Ended around 3.

Although I expected him to play his typical style this time around, he got my hopes up with that amazing start to his set, only to play his trancier side. Boooooooo...
Again I'll say that his Armada Night prog set rocked and I think I'll see Schulz only when I know he's going to play Markus Schulz afterhours prog.

Random notes:
-fans mobbing Markus like it's a rock concert. Amusing, but not very cool.
-Schulz was very patient with constant mobbing and random requests he got.
-Dubfire - Roadkill is IMMENSE in a big club system.
-Dragonfly's sound system sucked. I put in my ear plugs and the highs and the mids get cut out. (no, they weren't shitty earplugs) speakers aren't distributed properly, so there are gaps in the club where sound just plain sucked. also, lots of buzzing... like loose panels or somewhere in the club. annoying
-meeting random TAs is always good. always good to put a name to the face, even if I can't remember people for the life of me. still haven't met any Buffalo TAs though
-haven't been to Niagara Falls in years, and the downtown apparently feels like mini Las Vegas

Posted by dj_souvlaki on Jul-19-2007 18:50:

how about the guy in the copper honda prelude outside afterwards.

me "DO A BURNOUT!!! SPIN THE TIRES!!!"

everyone else start cheering him on. spins the tires and gets pulled over right after he got through the intersection lmao. now that was fucking funny.

I was outside for a bit and this dude walks by with his buddy and says: "What is this? Like a Picadilly's in Niagara???"

Somebody replies: "Guy, get out more."

I have been to Dragonfly a ton, it seems to be pretty sketch free for the most part, but that could just be my imagination

I did have on sketchy moment of the night. Later on that kinda shortish, really sweaty asian dude with the big glasses and black t-shirt came up to me and asked me for a sip of my water (which was lukewarm tap at the time). I was just like 'um, sorry dude, I'm a germaphobe'
Which not really, but fuck, that's just kind of gross.

Markus is my #1 DJ, but I didn't really spend any time near the booth because it's an audio dead-zone. I went up really quick to bother him for an autograph near the end and was waiting for a moment when he was interacting with the crowd and all those retards up front kept putting their hands up in the booth and screaming his name while he was cueing up tracks and shit. He must have a lot of patience to put up with that crap and still look like he's loving the crowd.

yeah, I went up to the booth for a minute but the sound was terrible. It was nice to have room to move around and dance further back too unlike some other shows where you're attached at the shoulder to 7 other people around you. Great tracks, especially the heavy stuff in the second half of the show. gets 8/10 from me
