I saw this today, and I have to say I disagree with a high number of posts in this thread.

I thought this film was absolutely terrible. Awful filming, terrible functioning storyline, cinematography was just ridiculous.

However I did catch a couple parts of the soundtrack that had some EDM elements to it, that was the only exciting part in it for me.

Good examples for me would be...

Well, anything with Spielberg included seems to get a nod from me really.

Movie got a 'meh' from me. Was stronger at the start, got silly by the end of it. Seemed like they just wanted excuses to do "neat CGI space scenes!" and a few moments felt a bit too contrived so they could pop in a neat-CGI space scene. I'd say it was like, a 3 out of 5 stars - save it for a matine or a download.

I think someone said this before, but it was a lot like Event Horizon, I also thought it could have used more "earth" scenes, it all took place in space without really showing you what it was like on earth (until the end I guess). Overall though it was an OK movie, too bad because it had lots of potential and really nice visuals.

lol..i guess movies such as Fast and the furious, XXX, and practically any movie out there excited u during the million and one "EDM" element filled scores

Gotta say that I enjoyed Event Horizon more - the theme of the supernatural evil was established fairly early on in the movie and got carried out nicely.

In this movie, there was not much of a super-natural 'build' at all, it seemed sort of tossed in and didn't fit as well as it should of, and its when the movie started to go downhill IMO.

No.

And most of xXx's soundtrack was heavy metal or rap. Although the club sequence with Orbital was pretty cool.

you obviously dont know the difference between a score and a soundtrack so lets just leave it at that

Yeah, apparently my 8yrs of classical and orchestral studying aren't registering very well.

SPOILERS!!!! DO NOT READ IF YOU HAVN'T SEEN THE MOVIE!!!

PROS
+ awesome visuals
+ awesome soundtrack (want to get a hold of this... epic vangelis type)
+ logical storyline for first 2/3
+ decent ending (last minute of film)

CONS
- horrible last 1/3
- spiritual 'evil' wasn't fleshed out, cheesy horror copout
- lack of urgency of mankind's ending, no earth scenes to show apocalyptic emotions ppl must be feeling
- weak 'hero' in cillian murphy. does the savior of mankind have to be such a weak, nerdy guy?

the movie was a visual and aural masterpiece. but the story left alot to be desired with the 'spiritual' detour. how did 'he' get on the ship? is he still human? does he have special powers? wow talk about LAME! what a way to ruin a movie with so much potential...

score: 5/10 stars

Porkee, the 'hero' is not always what Hollywood usually spoon feeds us with

well the only thing about cillian murphy is that he was looked at by the rest of the crew as being unbiased, logical and automatically indispensible (b/c he can operate the bomb). wow, talk about lame. is that all that is required to be a hero?

usually the protagonist of a solid movie has some drive within him to rise above the norm, or some emotional reason to prove his/her humanity. but cilian murphy was not given any real choices in the movie to make him stand out. did he make any decisions that the audience wouldn't have made? no.

but the spiritual element at the end of the movie completely ruined it for me. sure, they added it to provide extra suspense and conflict, but it felt like it was just added in the last second. horrid.
