-- what is your favorite genre to spin and why?

i'd have to say that my favorite genre to mix is progressive house and progressive trance. i like doing long blends and these genres work well for long blending. also it's the kind of music i like hearing. i know you can blend minimal tracks for days, but it's not the kind of stuff i like to hear so i don't think i'd have much fun spinning it.
but i do try to spin and buy everything i like. i never think if the track i'm buying fits into what i play because i don't want to limit myself musically like that to just some genres.

seriously.. you're looking at this the wrong way. how can it possibly be fun to try to stick to genres.. who labels them anyways?

i play what seems right at the right time, and i try to do it in a musical and ballsy way and that's fun for me

+1, adam you said everything man. I mean we all play edm and THAT is what we should worry about, btw prog house, techno, house, trance are not genres so this dick head made us look like fools

since when are you the grandmaster of the tranceaddict thread universe? you're a professional egotist before anything.

your reply to me was an unwarranted personal attack... in the english language "you're" is also plural.

bedroom dj? wrong. freelance DJ, maybe. do your homework first. but that's besides the point - I am an architect and graphic designer. What are you going to be doing when you are 50? I know what I will do.

get off your high horse. you spin in altoona, pennsylvania for god's sake. (see, at least I did my homework).

nah, you deserved it... you w/ your smartass comments on practically every thread you post on.

architect and graphic designer... woopdie doo!! what company do you work for? i guarantee i am more educated than you and make wayy more money than you. finance major at the smeal college of business (penn state honors college) and currently a mortgage broker with K2 (in state college, pa). and i'm 24 if you were wondering.. if you did some homework, you'd find that i dj in state college, pa (home of penn state university). i started in altoona and yes still dj there on a regular occasion (shit, i make more there than i do in state college).

and when i'm 50 i'll easily be worth a mill

i'm prob wayy better looking than you and my gf is probably 10x hotter than your best fuck

i own you

and i could def kick your ass

i do loans too you say your a "broker" what company do you own because that's what being a broker meens..

i don't see the point in owning my own company since i get 100% minus 500 fee without the overhead and liability of being a broker

On topic: Waltz-core.

Gives me the most freedom to express myself.

Posted by miamitranceman on Jul-24-2007 20:41:

Also on-topic: My favorite to spin is progressive trance and straight up uplifting trance. I've learned to love prog house and what one would call tech house and some deep house on beatport over the last year and it's much more useful to play when you're trying to get gigs.

Posted by spdandpwr on Jul-26-2007 17:54:

woah...nobody is on here to pick fights...haha....we should stop taking posts seriously and offensively like that...

[back on topic] house...and hip hop (surprisingly). they just allow for more freedom and fun when mixing.

Posted by Spirit5 on Jul-26-2007 18:38:

I don't really play out and don't mix as much as I used to because i'm kind of confused as to what genre I really like. I've been trying to get back into the older trance tracks that I used to play when I had TTs, but then I really prefer the ambient and chill stuff, however it's much easier to mix that style "radio style" on MixMeister than it is on CDJs. It's hard to beat mix that stuff since some is more like a sound-scape, and others has a more noticeable beat, but the BPM differences on some of the tracks is sometimes quite drastic.

Posted by Existo22 on Jul-27-2007 04:16:

I like tribal because you can be creative with the mixng and make new tunes on the fly. Somebody like carl cox or acquaviva play like drummers! Its always fun!
