News: Monday the 3rd of July 2006
What an awful weekend. After finishing my last university exam for the semester on Friday, I left to the airport Friday night to get a hotel so I could catch the morning flight to Los Angeles, where I was supposed to play with Armin and ATB at Spundae. Horribly enough things took a nasty turn when I landed in Detroit where I was supposed to transfer to LA. I got pulled aside by customs and completely searched and interviewed (for a significant part not in the friendliest way, they even threatened I would spend several nights in jail if I did not co-operate quickly enough). They googled me up on internet, and found my website and MySpace, as a result of which they decided that I was in need of a special artist working permit that I did not need on earlier trips (and did not get out of precaution because it is a very expensive ordeal). Due to this fact I spent about 8 hours on Detroit Airport of which half was spent waiting, and the other half I was interrogated in a small room having to make an official statement, sign it - only to be on the next flight back to Amsterdam at the end of the day without having been able to reserve an exit row seat (comes in handy when you are 6"8 / 2m04 and are on a 9 hour overnight flight). When I arrived back in Amsterdam heart broken and dissapointed I never made it to LA I spent about an hour waiting at the baggage belts, only to find out that the airline had managed to lose my baggage too. The trainride back home took another delayed 2.5 hours only to arrive Sunday afternoon after having left Friday evening, to have done absolutely nothing. I am truly, truly sorry for anyone who came to see me, I will immediately be trying to get one of the required papers so at some point I will be able to make it back to the USA. My sincerest apologies to Spundae and it's visitors, I wanted nothing more than to play at the party that night, but unfortunately luck was not on my side.
Love,
Menno "
Feedback for DJ set and Production
Hi there!!! It was really amazing to read all the positive feedbacks because of the tracks which are produced together with my friend Niels von Ahorn and the last DJ set. Soon we release 2 new remixes - 1 on Discover Records again, and the 2nd on another big geman label. We hope for your support, and maybe (but it is very difficult) we can see us next time in a club in America.
All the best for you and kind regards from Berlin!
