I can't tell if all of you guys are kidding or not. You think its ok to discriminate against people because of appearance? Does it sound like this guy was receiving a fair shake at a job when he was being referred to internally as "ghetto dude"?

no, i am no racist, i do think it was wrong, and the guy deserves an apology, he got the apology, from many people including dalton mcguity i think it was.. hes gonna get the job

my problem is that this guy is still complaining about it and hes acting like it is way mre severe than it actually is

like so what some one called him 'ghetto dude', boo hoo, hes getting a bunch of publicity, apologies from many government officials, and a bunch of job offers.... i am thinking he definitely got the better end of this situation....

i doubt we would ever hear about it if it were addressed to a chinese man, and referred to him as 'rice guy' or something.....

seems like canadians are very racially sensitive to african canadians but not so much towards other minority groups

I don't think you understand. He was NOT being given an OPPORTUNITY to earn his job/respect/whatever the honest way like the REST OF US.

From what I gathered, he wasn't even given an interview. Explain to me how one goes about being racist by reading an application?

You have a point here. By being referred to as 'ghetto dude' before he was given the job, he already had a negative image.

no, you got your facts wrong.
he had 1 interview, and was waiting for a follow up interview.

plus, it is racist no matter what way you look at it. yes, it maybe a media hype + he's trying to milk it, but regardless it IS racist. So everyone stop pretending like its not, it just makes you all look racist jerks.

that's exactly it right there.

from what I understand, the guy was NOT "ghetto" and was only referred to as such because he was black. Hence the racism.
