Well noone was actually there, or witnessed any of the evolutionary events which gave us present day life. So what we have is a "best guess", a theory of evolution which *is* being added to and revised. When I talk to someone who actaully knows a bit about science and points out an obscurity or something that im not familiar with, it challenges me on the spot to come up with an answer. And thats what I respect, the fact that someone has spotted a flaw and can argue it.

But its all good, and makes you think about how you understand patterns and processes. As a scientist, you have to remain critical and hold some scepticism on all aspects I guess.

i dont know why its "interesting". i actually find it obvious, given that a lack of scientific knowledge has engendered all kinds of weird beliefs and imaginations...

I reckon that a lot of it was finding fossils or similar, and then thinking up awesome stories about them And that is kinda interesting, just labelling it ignorance takes the fun out of it, myths are cool.

second story:

a different colleague was under my supervision to do some data entry. she had 3 toolbars at the bottom of the screen- 1) the software we were using, 2) a spreadsheet we were entering data into and 3) the folder that the spreadsheet was located in.

we did about 15 entries over 90 mins. each and every (and i mean fucking every) time she had to move from 1) to 2), for some reason she would go to 3) first, and then realise, oh i need 2). but she didnt learn. ever. its not fucking rocket science ffs.

i wanted to punch her in the back of the head.
