heheh yeah i bought two tracks from Fabric 34 to spin...

Hmmm.. Villalobos is one of the very few minimal producers that I actually find interesting, so this may be worth a gander. I'll try before I buy, though, instead of going at it blindly.

I dont really understand what you mean here.

balance 005 = James Holden, which was the best Balance to date

James Holden is a god amongst men

What don't you understand about what he said? He said that Ricardo, instead of just producing all the tracks he wants to mix himself, should have edited existing tracks and made them sound better like Holden did on Balance 005 as, in his opinion, that is what made Balance 005 as great as it is, the fact that you can find and play almost all the tracks on there, but the way James edited them, you really won't get the same feel as you would just listening to them on that compilation.

It seemed like a pretty clear statement to me.

Samples...

He is good as a dj, but his productions are maybe the dullest "clip clap bleep blop" minimal you can find on the planet

I remember liking some of his tracks, but from the samples this seems to be a rather boring release. Keep in mind, they're trying to sample tracks that you really need to hear in full, and in context to pass a full judgment on, so I still plan on getting the full cd and listening to it at least once before I write it off entirely.

Yeah, I really think you do need to hear it in full..

I mean, when I'd only hear samples of DE9:Transitions I would think it's quire boring as well, but once you've heard the complete CD it pretty much falls into place.. I think this one might be similar.

Posted by humilis on Aug-08-2007 07:16:

I think you're both right. I'll judge again after listening this in full

Posted by djj on Aug-15-2007 08:21:

Has anyone here gotten the promo?

Posted by woscar on Aug-15-2007 20:00:

I actually liked the samples. I'll definitely be grabbing this.

Posted by djj on Sep-06-2007 10:57:

Where is it already, release date moved or what?

Posted by bobba lou on Sep-06-2007 13:17:

if u are a Fabric member, its on its way. Non-members have to wait a month after the members only release. Cant wait for my copy in the post.

For the vinyl addicts, there will be an album sampler forthcoming on fabric. All of these tracks are from Ricardos label "Panga", they have been licensed to Fabric for LP, CD, 12" sampler.

Hasn't this concept already been accomplished by the like of PvD's Seven Ways? Or even AirDrawnDagger. I'm not a fan of using an established compilation series for pushing your own productions. Just think how up in arms everyone would be if it were someone less popular on these boards releasing an album like this. Fabric 37: Tiesto, featuring all Tiesto productions? Come on.

Posted by luisjb82 on Sep-08-2007 16:01:

It's a matter of tastes...

I consider it a great compilation. It maintains a housey vibe throughout the entire disc, many deep-techy-micro elements, very eclectic no doubt about it. I will keep playing it for a long time, that's for sure.

This be on the acquisition. Sheeeeiiiit.

Posted by Ted Promo on Sep-11-2007 01:25:

It's decent. I think I may have to grow into it more, but it gets really interesting past the midway mark. Chanting, weird vocals, varying drum patterns.

Posted by shaw on Nov-17-2007 18:07:

bump

I've listened to it more than just about anything else this year. Very good stuff.

Posted by evo8 on Jan-06-2008 14:59:

this is quality stuff, i think youd defintely need to listen to the whole cd to get a feel for it, those little vox in moongomery are class, and the way that bassline changes around in pattern in the following track is deadly!

as said above it does get weirder as it goes on, but its good
