If i was a DJ and fans were bugging me and swarming over me all night, i would get pretty annoyed eventually too.

Sasha is an introvert...
really shy around people...
i never met the guy, but the his buddy Sparrow kinda told/warned me about his personality...
thats why Sparrow (an outrovert as he called it), does all the talking...
to be honest...
he talks a little toooo much!
SPARROW IS THE MAN!!!
I think its kind of funner hanging out with him!

Andy Moor has to be the rudest one I've met so far, but I heard he was pretty tired from traveling so much before his set at 1015. However, I still love his music though and will continue to play it. I know next time to never bring him anything to sign and ask to take a picture with him.
I'm surprized Armin didn't sign your stuff. He's signed nearly ALL of Lexxx's records everytime he's came out.

I could be a total ass about this comment but im not going to. I realize everyone on this forum have their own visions and opinions so ill leave it at that....
For me ..travelling the world over, seeing Djs, Artist, Musicians and shows... Ive learned a rule thats valued and followed by mostly everyone...
GIVE THE DJ THEIR SPACE.
While Artist and Djs, Musicians love the attention, never, ever bother a Dj while he is in the mix. Lately, at local events and shows, everyones been really breaking this rule. This is extremely important when the Dj are coming on...
(Which is why another reason why the nights are being moderated more closely now.)
A few months ago when I was headlining, a patron was in the booth off to the left to me while I was in the mix. He was loving my sound, but kept poking me in the ribs saying how dope the sound was. I didnt mind, until he kept doing it every 2 minutes.. or asking me what the name of the track was, or asking someone to tell me to do this or that. Then my beats got off....
This for any Dj shouldnt happen, which is why space is limited at venues. Those rooms, Stages, Green Rooms, Booth Space should be limited to Djs, their guests and their friends. Ill generally ask if I can come up, if its a no then I dont force it...
A couple months ago, I got the impresssion that one of our headliners felt overcrowded.. thus causing him to leave EARLY. Totally pissed me off because this was someone I really looked up to and wanted to make sure he had a good time. Both him and his guests kinda felt that way too, bombarded with people approaching them, sign this, take a pic with me here, can I kiss you... bleh bleh.. It got totally annoying in minutes.. FAST.
Also, if you see a Dj associating with a female, dont approach him for a pic with you or someone else, or interupt him if hes talking to someone else to sign something or whatever... This happened to a few people after Paul Oakendfolds set. Basically, look at it this way... if your trying to spit game, would you want someone getting all in your face asking if you can take a picture with you, or if can sign this or whatever... Most of the time, when I see people approaching other Djs or Artists, their in a rush to get what they want.. keep in mind too that your in a loud area where they probably cant here what your saying.. while your yelling, or spitting while you talk in their face while talking.. trying to ask to do something...obviously, they are probably gonna get bleh with you.. I would, cmon, wouldnt you?
Everyones human. Djs are human. Ya they are someone you look up to, respect, love their sound or someone you wanna meet or whatever... and Ive met several Djs with their attitudes of "IM SO AND SO".. some djs are more focused...some arent...
No Dj I have ever met locally has been a dick. With the exception of a few Djs In the greenroom at 1015.. But then as stated above.. Give em their space...

Man what an asshole
I saw Sasha on his birthday, said happy birthday and bought him a drink...he looked at me and said "no thanks mate I get them for free" and gave me a shot. Sounds pretty cool to me

When Andy Moor came last October he was really nice and let me come into the booth so I can take a picture and say hi. I heard it was totally different this past June though

I have photographed pretty much all big name dj's around and I have to agree with Dave T. We should never forget they are human too and have moods like all of us. But on the other hand if they continue to be a prick everytime then it's clear what kind of person they are.
I've witnessed some pretty crazy fans so I can totally understand the DJ for being rude at times. Interrupting a dj while he's mixing before a live crowd to get an autograph isn't the most polite thing to do. Some dj's don't mind and can do it. While others require more focus and don't like to be disturbed. Please be reasonable!
Techno-Twins I think I photographed you two down here in L.A. a couple years ago at Ferry Corsten show at Avalon. I could be wrong. But if I'm not and it is you two then I can't imagine Oakey being a prick to you two cause you guys were so fun!!!! His kind of chicks!
Oakey parties HARD!!!!

lol ya, he is a sleeze bag. if he see's a chic who is decent looking, he'll forget everyone else around him just to focus on the chic.
aren't techno twins from SF though? i think you're thinking of the other twins?

I'm surprised Armin was rude. I guess he's nicer when he feels safe. I took the profile pic I have with him in OC. He was taking pics with anyone who wanted a pic and was talking to fans. He even signed my shirt when the sound went out. However, when he was in SD recently, I heard he got bombarded with fans in the hot room in Belo so he probably felt uncomfortable.
Above and Beyond are super nice. They actually recognized me in the crowd when I saw them recently @ Amnesia. One of them pointed me out to the other and I gave them a salute.
Serge Devant - Also saw him spin a couple times in OC. The first time was pretty dead, but I still danced my ass off...then I saw him partying a couple nights after @ Avalon...talked to a couple promoters to let him play for a little bit. He gave me his cell number afterwards.
Erick Morillo - I like how he connects with the crowd and always gets on the mic before and after his set and says whats up. He also connects with his crowd...kinda feels like he's dancing with us. Saw him twice in the last month in Spain (Ibiza and Barcelona). DJ's usually like me since I like to dance and hype up crowds. He blasted me with my own shot of cool air @ Pacha in Ibiza at the end of the night which felt amazing!
Deep Dish - Many have said they have attitudes. I asked Sharam for a pic at the end of the night @ Vanguard in Farsi...he told me he had to take a piss and he'd be back. I left. I guess I don't blame him for having to empty his liquids after spinning for hours.

LOL, yep that's Oakey! He kinda reminds me of Austin Powers, you know they have the same laugh and smile.
Yeah I know they're from SF if I knew how to post pics on here I'd post their pic but I don't
ps - the other twins you're talking about from down here are HOT too!!!

confirmed!
Someone from Release wanted me to take a picture of Oakenfold and these 2 girls he was talking to. I told the guy he isn't going to want to but said it'll be ok. Guess what happened, Oakey didn't want a photo so I look at the guy from Release and just crack up

I should have been there then. I don't think I'll ever be approaching Andy Moor for anything again if he ever comes through.

Ditto. Had a bad experience with him in LA. Was with a few LATAs and were talking with him after the show, and the second thing he says to me after I shake his hand and say thx for the set, he randomly starts talking to me about my ethnicity and then goes off about people who want to take a picture of him just because he is Andy Moor, and not just another DJ spinnin.
Anyways, I told him I flew down from Sacramento and just wanted a quick picture. Here is the result...

The ethnicity part was the crazy part. He asked me if I was Lebanese. Which I am and half Mexican, but NOBODY MY ENTIRE LIFE has ever guessed it.
And that was the 2nd thing he said to me. Easily the most random convo I have had with anyone, let alone a DJ.

Oh ok, I thought he said it in a rude/racist way. It seems like he was just having a friendly quick convo with you. Sometimes I ask random people what nationality they are, and vice versa.

Not friendly convo at all, really rude and he was being an ass. Michelle and a few other TAs heard him.

Remember, they are human in the end and everyone is moody. Everyone has their good times and bad times. And there could be man reasons why they are in the mood they are in.
Just because they were rude to you the one time you met them isn't enough to judge them, IMO. Some DJs are all over the place. You ask 1/2 of the peopel who meet him and they say he was nice. The other half will say he was just an ass.
Now if I meet a DJ a bunch of times and he's rude everytime, that's telling me something.
|
This would be my read on the situation. I'd cut them some slack, they have great demand on their time and attention. But if they're habitually rude...

Wow what a douchebag. You should poop in a FedEx box and send it to him.
