yes. key word is 'less.' they're both disgusting and cruel, but it's not equal.

you can't win with PETA people...

which is funny, cause animal shelters kill dogs everyday... but you can't put a human to sleep(unless you're Dr. Kevorkasidfjaisfasdfn)...

but yeah, they're equal.....

lets eat more meat while we're at it!!! lol...

it's not very far off from doing that to a human if you ask me. I've always been a pet owner so this disgusts me to the highest degree. Not that you've stated in any way, but people who are defending Vick based on the fact that they're "just dogs and not humans" are seriously fucking retarded.

Posted by shaw on Aug-10-2007 07:14:

I'm not saying it's ok, "'cuz they're 'just dogs," but equating murder & the killing of animals is pretty absurd. They make great pets, and they're lovely creatures, but there are people who literally think that a human life is no more valuable than that of a dog. There are quite a few crimes I would put above dogfighting, animal cruelty, or even killing dogs on the 'morally reprehensible' greatest hits chart, and none of them has anything to do with anything or anyone but humans.

Posted by King Ecnal on Aug-10-2007 15:32:

I don't think anyone is saying, "they're just dogs, so what"

its like Beethoven, yes that stupid friggen movie, when the little girl thought her dad gave Beethoven up to the shelter, and she comes in and says..."dog killer..."

yeah wow, that was lame, but he didn't get tried for murder or anything, just not the same is all...

but I understand the animal nuts who think its the same, they're just wrong is all...

Michael Vick's School For Disobedient Dogs

the ending is the best part

i think it's true. michael vick does not read the playbook. i am sure jim mora and his crew drew up some competant offensive plays, but it seems vick kept screwing it up by overthrowing someone or going out the pocket too early.

just my opinion ... we could blame his wide receivers, but alge crumpler is one really good tight end in my opinion. i saw him once in the dome against the saints a couple of years back, and that big guy can run. if vick actually knew how to throw to him, we could be naming him along with gates and gonzlaez has one of the best tight ends right now. if harrington plays his cards right this year, and uses crumpler's talents to the fullest, i place him as 3rd best over winslow. currently, it's gates-gonzalez-winslow-crumpler.

i would name jeremy shockey in the list, but because of last year's performances, i place him 5th below crumpler and winslow. i would place todd heap, jason witten, l.j. smith in my miscellaneous group ready to hit top 5, and my up and comer is greg olsen from chicago.

It's hard to judge TEs just because their productivity is affected so greatly by the players around them. It's what makes me wonder just how much better antonio gates is than anybody.

they never said they thought he'd get a lifetime ban, and he won't.

I don't know where my other post went...but anyway, the guys on ESPN were discussing a lifetime ban. guess it was just banter and I misinterpreted it.

He probably won't get one, I guess, but he should get something on top of his jail time, don't you agree? At least a season I say. The NFL has the chance here to send a message to their seemingly volatile athletes here. I hope they don't squander it.

Posted by shaw on Aug-21-2007 11:23:

they discussed the topic and said he wasn't going to get a lifetime ban, but that they thought it would probably be more than the year that Pacman got.

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Aug-21-2007 11:25:

so that could possibly be 2 seasons...but is that on top of the time he serves in jail? THis could very well destroy his career and I really couldn't give a shit since he's already (or at least should be) finanically secure for life.

I wonder if the Falcons might eventually just release him or somehow void his contract?

because of his connection to gambling.

on top of having to wave bye bye to the rest of his 10 year contract and the millions of dollars not to mention countless endorsement deals? on top of having a lifetime reputation as a dog killer? on top of no team really wanting to resign him after he gets out of prison because it'll be one big PR disaster?

even if the NFL "squanders" the chance, he's deservedly getting plenty on top of his jail time. anything else would just add insult to injury

they'll recoup the signing bonuses & he'll forfeit his salary for the time left. He's never going to start again in the nfl, but I wouldn't be shocked if he came back in some capacity. His suspension will probably depend on his jail sentence, but I'm sure it'll be substantial, mainly because he told Goodell that he was innocent & that everything was false in a face-to-face meeting between the two.

Posted by Dj Smitty20 on Aug-21-2007 13:54:

you guys bring up great points and it's pretty clear that Vick is losing this PR battle in horrible fashion. I haven't met anyone, save two jackasses, who have even offered the slightest sympathy for this unbelievable tool. Because of his talent and potential though, I wouldn't be surprised to see him back in the NFL in 2-3 years after this has blown over.

So can Atlanta void his contract now or what's exactly happening to that mega 10 year deal he signed?

Posted by shaw on Aug-21-2007 21:10:

he's already made $37 million from the contract, and they can't take that away from him. They can terminate the rest of the deal, though, but it'll kill them from a salary cap perspective ($22 mil. hit over the next 2 years). They'll probably wait 2 years (during which he won't be allowed to play anyway, so they won't be paying him, but technically keep him under contract to avoid the cap hit), then release him. Either way, he's not going to make any more money from the Falcons.

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Aug-21-2007 22:18:

i don't think Michael Vick will be coming back to the NFL. i will be surprised if another team will pay him after all this.

Posted by shaw on Aug-22-2007 00:59:

he'll be back eventually.

that's my prediction too.

Posted by LeopoldStotch on Aug-22-2007 02:37:

if he comes back next year, i'd be surprised.
if he comes back in 2 years, and in the same shape and can make the same impact he did, then i'd be surprised.

it takes a lot of energy and commitment to come back to the game, and play at the same level before he left the game.

I say he comes back late in the 2010 season or for the start of the 2011 one.
