Wow, I sure am concerned about things that'll happen 4-5 billion years from now.

Humans will most likely not survive, we will be the cause of our own extinction. If we ever advance significantly in the realm of technology, you can bet that we will be moving out of this planet and this galaxy. So it really doesn't matter either way.

I don't think this really means anything for humans now...

You may end up being part of a goat or grass or amoeba or an alien species. No one knows what you will become. It is like rebirth but not quite. This is how nature works. There is no God in this picture. You are not going to heaven or hell. Jesus Christ does not acknowledge the presence of alien life forms in parallel universes or the existence of higher dimensions. His theory is limited in scope to the believers living on this insignificant planet revolving around an average sized star in an ordinary galaxy which is no different than billions of other galaxies that form this universe.

Well said...a lot of people don't realize that humans as well as everything else was initially made in a star, and that star may have been created after the death/explosion of a star previous to that. It's incredibly stupid to still believe Adam & Eve just appeared out of nowhere in an act of God. Humans and the matter they're made of had to come from somewhere and evolution had to have taken place, it just does not make sense otherwise.

TA 2.0 will shine so bright it will take the place of the sun as light/energy giver for earth/humans once it burns out.

i would hope that in the next 20 years we seriously are more devoted to expanding our technology of space travel and understanding of the universe and we attempt to create deep space travel and colonize other planets and meet other intelligent life. i can only assume that we as humans have expanded into other galaxies and live on other planets, b/c their is no way this planet is gonna be liveable in a 100 years of less.

What are the chances that earth will be gone before this happens? Pretty big.

As long as there is war and humans continue to spend trillions on war (which isn't going to stop anytime soon if ever) we'll never develop the technology to travel to other planets. The only way that is going to happen if all the countries of the world put their differences aside and all contribute to this cause. Traveling to other planets is very far beyond the technology we have today. Our best hope besides that is to colonize Mars although this would be an amazing feat as well seeing as how Mars is extremely uninhabitable.

I have also heard that the sun will begin to enlarge in about only a billion years (yes a long time but this will still be a few billion years before the sun ultimately dies). At this point the Earth's temperature will rise to uninhabitable levels. So humans have roughly a billion years to achieve colonization of other planets. I foresee human beings as an extinct species by then.

Only a billion years. We better step up the pace!

well i tried to be alil more positive when i said wat i did, but u are right..

what are the odds we as a planet will stop fighting with eachother and unite as a whole planet...it will never happen when we are divided by religion, so get rid of religion all together. we also need to unite as one planet, one government, not by country or geographical boundaries and we have to help eachother out in the world and not focuss on our country and no one else...etc...

also colonizing mars is pointless unless we perfect terraforming.

Here in Canada there's a smarty-pants dude named Dr. David Suzuki. He was giving a lecture and talked about the sun going buy-buy in four and a half billion years. A woman got up and asked him, with great concern, if he said four and a half million or 4 and a half billion? He repeated the four and a half billion to which she replied, "oh... I thought you said four and a half million. That's a relief!"
