It's super easy to rent a car. You can do it online, or just hire one while you're there.

I have never been, but I never understood what all the hype is about. I mean, yeah some of the pics I have seen are absolutely beautiful but it hasn't gotten me to want to spend that kind of money to go yet.

I would say out of all the places I still want to travel to, Ibiza is lower down on that list.

+1 i cant compare Ibiza since ive never been but yes the Hawaiian Islands are amazing. can't even begin to tell you which one was my favorite. lolz 4-5 stars would be nice but whats even more intriguing was staying at a cabin for 4-5 days at a remote campground within Haleakala (sp) National Park (Maui) on higher elevation (a small mountain i think?) with its very own public coconut palm and guava trees, black sand beach and deep aqua water, extensive rocky coves, and hiking trails galore, holy crap. it was freaking GORGEOUS and def back to nature. Drove to Hana then we drove the entire OTHER way all around on the cliffs/coastside, the most amazing experience and views ever.

yeah, hawaii is simply amazing. the mountains on the coast of BC along the sea to sky and north of whistler are maybe more spectacular! Also, the coastal ranges in Alaska are something to see.

yeah, my sister was telling me about Alaska, she went on a two week cruise with my Mom for her bday in June after touring Seattle and Vancouver, of course which I *totally* missed out because of work. meh

someday...

I disagree....we do travel to Europe quite a bit. I think its the impressions that some Americans leave behind that gives us a bad rep.

considering that roughly around 25% of US citizens own a passport

we suck at traveling

Alaska cruise sucked so bad...too many damn old fogies, plus the sea was so rough I even got sea sick.

food was good though (Celebrity Cruises)

Agreed, Typical US citizens don't get a lot of international travel, however, the stat abouth passports is a bit misleading. I say that because there are very few countries in the world that have such a hugh land mass with such diversity in terrain. One could argue that there is no need to leave the US to see all types of different landscapes.

I think we all know that european citizens practically have to have a passport, but the need is much less in the US. This is not jsutification for the lack of foreign travel, but just a little inight. And even if you could see all the different landscapes, you wouldnt get exposure to other cultures, which is one of the primary reasons why i travel.

If an american has a passport that means (s)he traveled outside of NA (with the exception of some central american countries). considering that 25% equals around 75,000,000 people i would say that we're pretty good at traveling. That number doesn't take into consideration americans who traveled to mexico and the carribean pre-2007 (actually you don't need a passport for land travel, so the number will remain low for a while).

A higher percentage of europeans have passports because they need them to travel to every other european country. If americans needed passports to travel from NY to NJ everyone would have one also. If you take european travel out of the equation i bet europeans don't travel as much as you think. Remember that a german taking vacation in spain is like us going to florida (not really that spectacular).

Im willling to bet that americans do more traveling abroad than europeans (if you take out euros traveling to other euro countries).

What a load of shite James...Likening a trip from Germany to Spain as a trip from NYC to Flroida is absurd...I know youre not stupid enough to even believe that bullshit....

US................................................................................asia

not necessarily. it's only 2-4 hours more to fly to asia from the US than from Western Europe.

even though you were a bit mistaken about the passport within EU, your premise is 100 percent correct, Europeans do travel more, but in some cases it takes less tha 2 hours for them to visit many different countries, we Americans travel alot, but where we do miss out is not having a set amount of vacation days , as does our European friends, as somebody who leans to the right I do have to agree with my friends on the left that this is a major malfunction of our system
