im just asking for books/movies, not anyone's opinion on the subject, so it shouldn't really go anywhere near there.

if you can suggest a movie/book that supports the 'no holocaust happened' theory, it would be a really interesting read

well i was just stating a very radical point. I don't know any books, but I'm sure you'll find plenty of resources on the internet. It's quite a touchy subject. I think it's illegal in Europe to be a holocaust denier.

i know what to read for general information on the Holocaust

i asked for material on concentration camps. how they worked, maybe first hand experiences etc etc

Posted by Omega_M on Aug-10-2007 00:34:

just read the relevant chapters from "Rise and Fall of the Third Reich" by William Shirer. That book is loaded with information. It is a historical book written out of captured Nazi documents and testimonies from the Nuremberg trial. Other than that, either read the wiki pages on concentration camps or check out the references at the bottom.

did a jew write it ?

Posted by Omega_M on Aug-10-2007 00:41:

I dunno. But I don't think so. He was an american journalist stationed in Berlin during the third reich. I doubt the germans would have let him stay if he was a jew.

the 2nd last episode of band of brothers focusses on the death camps in germany and u could watch the movie the pianist or schindlers list.

I highly recommend that everyone at some point in their life go to a concentration camp. obviously, not very easy to do w/ budget and travel, i understand.

but actually going to one, it brings such a sense of what *really* it felt like to be behind those fences/walls. its such a creepy, eerie, depressing feeling....but is an experience like no other.

I went to Dachau when i was in Germany in '01.

what made the experience even more...surreal, if that's the right word....is that we took a public bus to get there...and it's crammed so full that everyone who was standing up was smashed against each other. literally, no breathing room at all. and the a/c was busted...so it' was hotter than hell in there....made it *really* seem like we were going to the camp.

I would like to visit a concentration camp. Or maybe even an extermination camp like Aushwitz

I was told that all the death camps in Poland were kept as they were back in the 40s....unlike the ones in Germany that were made "touristy". tourist is a horrible word to use...but they've made it "nice" to look at....more of a memorial type thing...whereas the ones in Poland were just left as they were.

i don't know for sure, never been to poland, but would be interesting to see those ones too.

Sophie's Choice

I should watch it again, but THE "choice" scene is heart wrenching.

There are this new investigation coming out regarding the Number's of the Holocust victim's. No near the 6 million jews, as there's nothing to support that number across Europe kind of deal, I'm wondering if that will cross into the wires.

ANd no I don't know too much about holocust movies.. closest and one of the best is Schindler's list.

I always wanted to ask this. How popular or strong are the neo-nazi groups in Europe ? What are their activities and do they create a menace ?
