I think he's a bit of an arrogant cunt - and it shocks me how someone who's done so little to warrant any praise whatsoever can act in such a manner.

c0r version: Troy Pierce is probably a twat.

In all honesty, I'd go to the house-warming party. Like Lira said, they'll be back in your area again. For me the line-up isn't something I'd go to even if I had no other plans. Plus, you already bailed on your friend once.

Several interviews he's done and basically anytime anyone has asked him to open his mouth.

I just noticed this lineup tomorrow:
Troy Pierce & Magda back to back, Richie Hawtin (m-nus.com, Berlin), Magda (m-nus.com, Berlin), Troy Pierce (m-nus.com/Detroit), Gaiser live (m-nus.com, Berlin), Heartthrob live (m-nus.com,Berlin), Gogo, Titto La Rocka (E), Mastra

the best guy on the mnus team, IMO, is Marc Houle, and he's not there, but Gaiser is fucking great, Richie has always thrown down some great sets, and Magda has had some amazing nights as well. i really dig Troy's track selection, not to mention he mixed flawlessly for hours last time i saw him. i've never heard Heartthrob live, but i understand he is quite good as well.

however, this is if you like this kind of music. if you're not a big fan, it probably won't be that great of a night, and i don't recall you ever liking the minimal/bleepy tech-house sound much.

i interviewed him, spent a while with him, and saw him face a pretty fucked up situation (the local DJ basically fucked up his hand-modded A&H mixer beyond usability) and he took it in stride.

he is a bit eccentric, but generally a cool guy.

I wish I could find the interview with him that was posted on here a few months back.

He really came off like a proper twat.

That being said, you having met him in real life is obviously entirely different than kids bitching about him on the internets

Edit: Actually, it might have been the interview you did

nope, my interview was only posted in spanish on my local scene website.

the english version never made it to RA due to some communication issues, and by the time they had it it was already a little old.

I'd actually go with the house party as well. Never really been overly impressed with any of the M_nus shows I've seen outside of Gaiser.

I really like Magda for some reason, and Hawtin *may* have been brilliant when I saw him but the sound was so cocked up it was terrible.

i've seen Richie twice, brilliant both times. and i admire his skill as a producer. "Sheet One", "Closer" and "Consumed" are fucking brilliant albums.

Posted by RJT on Aug-10-2007 23:58:

For all the things I've liked from Richie, and all the others I've hated, the one thing that's stayed the same is how much I admire the mans ability to do what he wants and be better at it than pretty much anyone else.

At that point, it's all personal preference, and there have definitely been things on both side of the fence for me when it comes to Hawtin.

good thing I wasn't recruited to do any of the moving .... I can always play the sick card

Posted by Ygrene on Aug-11-2007 14:27:

Man I want to say 'gay' one more time.....but I won't.

Posted by jdat on Aug-11-2007 22:31:

well I'm home from said party .... we went to the restaurant had a nice bit of fun but zero percent of crazy i'm afraid

I could still go to Zurich now but it's 12.30 and I don't feel like waiting for an hour outside the club once I'm over there meaning ... between the drive and wait I'll be lucky if I'm in the place by 2.30 am.

I brought up the idea of going there some people were like sure why not ... but they were too tired

Posted by Ygrene on Aug-11-2007 23:06:

GAY! Man I tried so hard not to say it.

I have nothing but <3 for you jdat!

Posted by Lomeli on Aug-12-2007 17:07:

The Minus guys definitely know how to throw good parties. I think Magda and gaiser are worth checking out, but friends are more important.

The best act from Minus are Tractile. Their sound is out of this world!
