. I've seen Tiesto spin better sets before but the expierence in a sold out arena with the crowd going crazy is just.....

The night was incredible for me (once inside), but the parking situation was a MESS. Apparently, there was another event happening right by the Sports Arena (some Hindu festival or something) so it took an hour just to park (this is after we've entered the Sports Arena grounds). We crawled 10 feet every 15 minutes or so. Miserable.
Once we finally parked (on grass!), we saw a huge line being formed that lead up to the entrance of the Sports Arena. I was getting worried, but it turned out to be not that bad. We dashed thru the Groovetickets line, and saw a much shorter area to get in on the south entrance. The other line might've been for people who didn't buy tickets in advance.
As soon as we got inside, we heard a female voice asking the crowd if they're ready for Tiesto, and the crowd went wild! I was glad I didn't miss his entrance, but then I realized it's almost 10:30pm and he's not on yet?! Ok, time to get some drinks then!
A few minutes later, he finally appeared, and the front and side areas got packed quick. I knew he was going to build up his set, so the beginning was kind of slow. It wasn't bad, but not extremely exciting either.
I think it was in the middle of the night where he started throwing down one track after another that I recognized. There were classics and there were new songs from his "Elements of Life" album. Classics such as "Love Comes Again" "Silence" "The Quest - C Sharp" (and so many more) brought back the good ol' memories
. I was upstairs by then and could see the crowd getting as pumped as I am. The view was incredible, as you can see from some photos below. I actually do enjoy a lot of the songs from his latest album, like "In The Dark" so I was extremely happy that he dropped such a track.
When it got close to 3am, the set was like the end of a rollercoaster ride, where it got a bit more mellow at parts, but there were great build-ups with some banging beats that kept me going.
As a side note, I do agree with some people on the board that his 2005 concert seemed better because he incorporated more live acts, etc. This felt like another Monster Massive, but I'm not complaining. They're still truly a great way to spend my Saturday nights, and I'm glad that we're able to see such talent within such close proximity to where I live.
Even with so many people there (I think it was sold out!?), I was able to see some familiar faces and also run into Gil who I haven't seen in such a long time!
I took a lot of videos but they sound muffled, so I'm sharing these photos instead.
Enjoy!

The ugly:
Getting stuck for 30 minutes on the Martin Luther King freeway exit, then another 15 mins to go 2 blocks down MLK to the Sports Arena!
Waiting 45+ minutes in the VIP line, which was right across from the GUEST LIST line for which there were no people except 3-4 event staff. I think they may have been letting in some small groups from the VIP line occasionally though. My friend got to the regular line about the same time as me, and we both got in about the same time!
After entering, couldn't figure out where the VIP area was. The first "yellow coat" staff correctly told me to go down the escalator, but there were so many people in front of the escalator I must have walked right past it. The second "yellow coat" all the way at the other end didn't have any information...he just kept pointing to a printed list of wristband types, and said only ALL ACCESS could go any further. There was a group of people in front of me who were screaming and frustrated that they couldn't find the VIP area either. Only after checking at the security office (where the first woman there had no clue) did a guy come over who actually knew what was going on.
Once getting to the VIP area, the bar was a total clusterf*ck, and took about 20 mins to get a drink.
I mention all of this because it almost ruined the night for me. I know the freeway is out of anyone's control, but once I arrived at the Sports Arena, was over 1 1/2 hours until I got to the dance floor, with a VIP ticket. Jes' set was already over, but I did hear some of it waiting in line somewhere...
The bad:
After Jes finished, a video game animation of Tiesto played on the screen for something like 30 mins. I ran into Kristina Sky and we were both like wtf, can't they get a warm-up DJ?
Somewhere I saw that Tiesto would be spinning a 6-hour set. He came on at 10:38 p.m., but went past the advertised 3 a.m. closing time until 3:38 a.m. This could also go into "the good" section though, as 5 hours is better than the typical hour or hour and a half at most massive events!
Having seen Tiesto in Concert LA and Las Vegas in 2005, guess my expectations were set pretty high. The visuals and live performances during that show were really stunning, beyond anything I saw last night. Maybe the night should have been billed as "Tiesto Elements of Life Tour" without the "Tiesto in Concert" so everyone doesn't keep comparing them. All that said, tix were $85GA, $200VIP for TIC-LA 2005. This year, tix started at $55GA, $100VIP and then went up as the event got closer.
The good:
I think the night sold out, or came close to it. Even the bleachers were pretty full, so a lot more people came out for this than TIC-LA in 2005 (was it 21+ then though? ...I can't remember). Always good to see record numbers of people supporting EDM music, it makes the future look bright! Was a lot more difficult to get up front though, best I could do was get about 3 people back from the security wall...
I enjoyed Tiesto's set...his energy was so high, being fueled by such an incredible turnout! His last song was Rank 1's "Breathing (Airwave)," which continued to play after he left the stage.
Toward the end, Tijs spoke into a mic and let everyone know that he had been asked where he'd like to play for NYE this year. He said "Los Angeles" was easily the answer, signed his headphones and threw them into the crowd, then walked from one end of the security wall to the other shaking people's hands.
So he DID throw his headphones! Argh, didn't even see that. Was hoping to have a chance maybe I was up front.
Thanks for that last song, me and my friend were wondering what it was. Bangin track.
Tiesto made my night when he played "The Prophet." His whole set was bad ass!!
This was the first time I actually took off my shirt @ club/party/rave etc...whatever you wanna call it.
Shirt was soaked...if not from sweating...from people splashing water all over the place.
Think I may be getting a lil too old for massives & all ages events. Get a lil weird to me when I see guys and girls my lil sister's age (14).
I never went to any raves back in the day in the desert when I would hear about em all the time. (Maybe a good thing!)
Guess I'm just getting old!
I prob would have enjoyed the night more if there weren't so many puddles and other things that make you say, "Oh hell no."
By the way: Did anyone see what happened to Tiesto when he first came down to shake hands? I think he may have gotten attacked or something at first...he left or got away from whatever it was...and then came back.
can't wait to see vids so I can relive the experience.....
Oh god, why is it that most of the people that are complaining are the ones that didn't go? Good lord, if you didn't go, than you shouldn't complain. You weren't there.
Anyhow... I HAD A BLAST!!!
THE MADNESS
To start off, I think this is by far, and I mean by far, one my all time favorite Tiesto shows. And yes, I was SOBER! No drugs, or alcohol for me. I think, who you go to the show with, has a big influence if you like it or not. If you go with a people who are just bitching, it will kill your night. I was lucky I went with 3 awesome girls who just happened to appreciate every moment of the night. That made it awesome for me too. We were all sober. No drugs, no alcohol.
For some reason, I seem to be one of the very few to have a smooth night. I got to the freeway off ramp around 9:45 and the line was HUGE! Lucky for me, I know my way around there and I have a secret parking lot that's never full and it's not an issue to get there. HeheheI made it from the freeway to my parking lot in less than 5 min, than I walked another 5 min to the line. And got searched within another 5 min. Total time from freeway to inside the venue, 15 minutes. Not bad at all.
While in line I saw Greg (TA), I called him to tell him there was no line where I was at, but he didn't answer. I had to leave a message. Than I ran into JT in line. Nice seeing you bro. Oh, and I saw a lot of people wearing DAFT PUNK shirts! hahaha
So we're inside the venue by 10pm. We walk around for a bit, I showed my girls the meetup spots just in case we get lost, got waters, and bam! Went right to the very front middle. I was right in the front. Look at Drew's crowd shot. You can see me on the bottom left. Hehehe
The front was a mess. We stayed there for the first half of the show. After that, we found a comfortable spot next to the fence that dived the VIP with the regular crowd. There was plenty of room to dance, plus we had the huge fans blowing cold air at us. That spot was ACE! We had a perfect view.
TIESTO
I wasn't feeling the animated Tiesto. It was blah, but the crowd seemed to enjoy it as they kept on screaming like if somebody was actually spinning. I thought it was kinda lame.
The first two scenes of the shows were pretty mellow, and I thought Tiesto was boring me. But once FIRE came on, HOLY SHIT! He kicked it up another notch. After Fonzarelli - Moonlight Madness, it all went out the roof. Fucken amazing. The show really took off from there and I didn't stop dancing. Very few DJ's make dance all night. Tiesto did last night. I really liked his FIRE Set. I hope he airs it on Friday. It was banging!
I was really surprised when he dropped ORBITAL - HALCYON ON AND ON!!!! I went nuts! The crowd didn't seem to know what it was, but I sure did! That song is old school!!! The vocals are enchanting!!! I went nuts!!!
He dropped quite a few classics last night and some older songs I haven't heard in a while. It was kinda like a mix of old Tiesto and new Tiesto.
TRACKLISTING

Pryda - Aftermath
Fonzarelli - Moonight Madness
CJ Bolland - The Prophet
All his hits... (Traffic, Adagio, Flight 643 etc.)

Parking is what it is. The lines could have been better organized but either way I got in on time.
Definitely more people this time than the 2005 show. If you were to compare the 2005 TIC to this Elements of Life tour than the 2005 show was much better.
Jes, was horrible imo and a waste of time. The animated Tiesto was GAaay! Especially when the animated Tiesto started doing back flips.
As said before "FIRE" was Fuckin awesome!!!
The visuals were nice. Wish there were more lasers but not complaining.
I really liked the the visuals but when the visuals came to the dance for life stuff and had nothing to do with the elements of the earth, that was kind of a buzz kill.
Highlights of the night for me was:
1. tears from the moon
2. flight 643
3. Silence
4. GOURYELLA!
5. Falling
6.Aftermath
7.NYANA!
Edit: The Legacy!
The last 45 minutes wasn't my cup of tea. Wished the set had more energy throughout but I had a blast anyways.
Julie Thompson was supposed to come and perform 'Do You Feel Me', & 'Something Inside' but she wasn't there! wtf I thought we would have at least that one live performance.
Oh and yes I'll be there NYE

is it just my imagination or did we also hear "Radiohead - Street Spirit (Tiesto Remix)" yesterday towards the middle of the show?
