Orbital - Halcyon

The Overlords - Gods Eye
Most believe that the Bionizer remix is the original but the original is in fact the version on the album.

got the single and just recently listened to the original properly and it's great, probably my favorite mix.

there were remixes by tiesto, but that was kinda poo, even he himself played the 5am mix

to add to this

lost witness - happiness happening
z2 - I want you (montana will argue this, and im not arguing about it being better than the lange rmx which is infinitely different, however the lange mix was played out more in my experience)
De'Lacey - Hideaway (the deep dish mix is used, even for radio edits etc)

tiesto played the original.. well, on ISOS2 anyway. the 5am mix was the more epicy one with the big riff. and yeah his remix definitely wasn't one of his stronger moments

i'd have said the original was by far the biggest mix in that case actually..

Haha I remember how disapointed I was when I found their album and God's Eye sounded nothing like the one I heard at parties

I'm also slightly suprised at some of the tracks mentioned here. Cafe Del Mar and 1998 has always been about the original version for me.

Best suggestion yet though is by far Age Of Love - The Age Of Love (1990). Does anyone remember the original? Apart from being on one of the early Techno Trax compilations I haven't seen it anywhere.

yes its pretty crap compared to Bionizer remix. The Overlords were some straaaange danish guys. Some tunes are outstanding and some are weird. They must have smoked some heavy stuff.

cafe del mar doesn't have an original if we're being technical ..although i'm assuming you mean the kid paul mix

and i guess i just haven't heard the 1998 original used anywhere, with the exception of one of the magik albums (i think?). i may be biased though because i was unaware of the tune until pvd's mix came out (i was about 12 at the time to be fair)

Positron yes. Superstrings, well sort of, Rank 1's remixes (yawn) has overshadowed the original. Jens, no, Froot Loops Remix is way more known than the original. and even Marco V's remix a couple of years ago was based on it.

hmm, actually, some of these are not.
NOOE, Interstate, Stel & Luminary, they don't count, too new for this matter
Tears from the moon, No, first of all it's a just an Uptempo remix (i would actually say "pop remix" but conjure one is far from a pop-act), and secondly. Hybrids remixes was WAY more played
Love Stimulation, remove the "club" part and you're spot on.
Horizons & Eternal, No
Lies, it's a "pop remix" ffs, they don't count in these case
Southern Sun, all of the popular mixes of this got equal ammount of play.
Polaroid, yes, but no. because the original was never even properly released.
Traffic, ...., that's a good one
Two Fishes, true but, noone would know about this one anyway if it wasn't id'd.
Mindcircus, No, absolutely no, most of the mixes got their equal ammount of play, only the G&D remix got most play because it was the original with a steady beat.
Voyage, No, the original was played more

Holden & Thompson - Nothing
You always only get to hear the 93 returning mix

Klea - Tic Toc
you mostly hear the Magik Muzik Remix

Basic Dawn - Pure Thrust
Mostly played: Nu Nrg Remix

Kyau & Albert - Velvet Morning
all the world mostly played the MdG or the Aalto Remix

Labworks - Ibiza Sunrise
I only know the Shane 54 Mix and the one that's on the B-side with it Was there even ever an original mix?

IIO - Rapture
Many versions, the original hardly gets any plays

Lustral - Everytime
Mostly heard: Nalin & Kane Remix

Ruff Driverz Pres. Arrola - Dreaming
Mostly heard: Percussions Mix
I don't even remember the Original, although I have the vinyl

Aly & Fila - Eye of Horus
I'm quite sure everyone only remembers the Ronski Speed Mix

Modulation - Spirits
Slusnik Luna and Cosmicman remix probably got both quite a few plays

I can't find anything when I search for "Labworks"

Posted by montana on Aug-16-2007 19:47:

edit. it's here nowadays http://labworks.auratrance.com/

Umm, they may be "too new" but it's still correct. I *doubht* the originals are suddenly going to be more recognziable.

In my experience I've seen the Tiesto remix get WAY more play... yours varies.

Not following you here?

Horizons, yes. Eternal maybe... I wasn't sure of that one.

quote:

Fine

Tiesto remix got the most play... followed by G&D remix. But the Sabata remixes and Solarstone remixes didn't get nearly as much play... Practically no one played the origianl mix.

Polaroid, yes, but no. because the original was never even properly released.

None were ever "properly" released... so arguement is still the same.

Are you saying you don't know if the Vince O'Matic remix was played more than the original?

quote:

Absolutely yes. The original doesn't get nearly any play. I'll ask you to prove (via tracklistings I guess?) that other remixes got as much play.

quote:
Voyage, No, the original was played more

I'd argue that to not be true.

Posted by RebeL9 on Aug-16-2007 20:02:

can you list some other DJs apart from Oakie that played two fishes?

besides. I've heard sets from Oakie where he plays the original of Southern Sun

Posted by Omega_M on Aug-16-2007 20:06:

The original Southern Sun is not at all forgotten or uncommon IMO. It's there on his Bunkka CD which was a best seller.
