| Originally posted by Jeff Button It's kind of related to the other thread (as is this one) - people's reactions to others saying that they are glad new things are on the way....I personally don't think that the scene has been bad by any means. There have been great parties, and artists as of late. People just need to accept the fact that some want change (or more options than the norm) - and learn not to take it so personally. |

| Originally posted by Skipper Having toronto DJs that spend more time out of the country than they do in it is good for Toronto overall. Look at Berlin - the hometown artists are the ones who put it on the map. So if the hometown artists aren't touring...well, you see where I'm going here. Josh has been playing internationally for awhile tho... |

They work their ass off organizing, bring you the music, you pay to get in, and they get paid for their efforts. Do you ever come into work not really caring whether you get paid for the work you're going to do? |
yes BIG UP the local talent! Respect.

| Originally posted by Stilez of that list, how many are actually 'from Toronto' Sarah? Seems like most of the home grown talent who get recognition are people who are from outside the borders of T.O. Unfortunately, this city is well known for only accepting and recognizing it's home grown talent once they've proven themselves on an international stage, and that goes for more than dj's (eg. bands, singers, even athletes and professionals like: doctors, engineers, etc...) Montreal has a better track record of producing more internationally recognized dj's and artists in general than Toronto, and I'd probably go as far as to credit their initial local support for those results. |
