He uses that to record his set. The only thing that disappointed me was that he records it with Ableton. Audacity > *

Edit: And yeah, the Maven is the Maven, and it will always be praised. I wouldn't want one, though. I'd rather build my own MIDI controller which I'm planning on doing anyways.

That's what I've heard but I've asked once... some tech guy of Sasha...he said nope..and it was up and running...or maybe they weren't bothering with recording that night. I don't know...but I thought there was more to it then that.

Nope. I had a perfect view of the whole booth and all that it was doing was recording it. The sound waves were perfectly visible, and when his iMac crashed on him the sound waves stopped, and returned when his set started up again.

That's the best photo I have of it.

There kind of is...

He uses that to trigger track clips in ableton, as well as add effects and adjust volume, tempo, and whatever.

He performs his sets with it.

It really is a beautiful machine .

That's not what we're talking about. We're talking about a separate laptop that sits off to the side of his iMac/Maven setup.

Yeah..then that guy lied to me..I asked if there would be a release of the recording or how I'd be able to get a copy of it...he said there was no recording of the set....well..I guess he was trying to give me a more polite response then...yeah..we aren't going to release it.

well its not like sasha is doing something spectacular with ableton and he needs a dual core cpu or something.
ok the controller looks nice and it has pretty lights...if you have the patience/geek factor you can build one yourself.
but look at this and cream your pants : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k-CtxzSMAYc

nah it looks more like a studio equipment than a 'live' mixer.

not very user friendly imo.

i wanna know, when him and john are playing b2b, how does he sync the ableton tune with digger's cdj? is there a time clock or something?

Ya but that's more so a live performance mixer than a b2b track DJ mixer.

I'm sure one of the faders on Maven is linked to the project tempo in Ableton.

there's a tool available to sync Ableton with cdj's via a midi clock thingie I think
My mate has had one for a year now and he loves mixing like that, it works perfectly
Ill ask him what it was called again

Looks like a remote.

the monodeck is a midi controller built for ableton.
what monolake does with it, its up to him, sashas controller can do the same things, even my bcr2000 can do the same things.
just dont get over excited with something because its sasha's
zabiela is using the evolution controllers and does a better job than sasha :P
