i was kinda disappointed, Gabriel did everything while dave just stood there beyond cracked out "acting" like he was mixing when Gabriel was doing everything with his macbook

to give dave credit though, it seemed like he woke up around 230am because right around then he looked wide awake and was actually mixing

i wonder if they opened the Vangaurds set with the Axwell remic of the hard fi track?

How it typically works is Josh starts a track in a loop after they discuss what track is coming in next and then Dave works on starting the mix in and then Jost releases the loop and Dave finishes off the transition....I believe that's how I recall it. The mixing is indeed done through the mixer as they have two seperate channels running to it. When I use a mixer, I run a somewhat similar setup but I have my odd channels in ableton going through channel 1 on the mixer and then the even channels on channel 2. Know Retrobyte just uses channel 1 and 2 out of Ableton (going to chan 1 & 2 on the mixer) ... but don't recall exactly recall the channel routing G&D use out of Ableton into the mixer.

Effects are done both through Ableton and through the mixer. EQs through the mixer. I have seen Josh warp a track on the spot before and prep it for Ableton so he can play it.

In the end, it all could be done by one person but when they used to do tag team DJing (how it was when they started), their sets were very segmented in style in and the way they do it now just makes for a more solid music set overall.

yeah i kind of figured it was a tag team effort, but it just takes away the challenge of it and kind of "dummies" everything down...

I was about to leave and they played their mash up of

"16 Bit Lolitas versus Motorcycle - Deep Breath Lolita (Dave Dresden Mash Up)"

And then i pretty much stayed until the end.

They played a lot of remixes of songs that are currently "hits" in the UK.
