But its a DJ list, not a producer list, but I do agree, I remember seeing BT and chicane on the list and wondered just how many mixes they have done in the year compared to Sasha, Tiesto etc.

It's because a lot of the people who vote are so clueless they don't even know the difference between a DJ and a producer. It's the main reason why the chart is an utter farce.

Yeah, there should be some guidelines for who qualifies to be on the list. A lot of the folks on that list are strictly producers, albeit very talented producers, but not DJ's. Hell, if enough people vote for Michael Vick, he could be the next #1 DJ...or something like that.

I understand it from a business stand-point though. The DJ Mag Top 100 is a very well-known poll that brings in a lot of business to DJ Mag from people who would have otherwise never heard of them.

Supposedly because clubs have made it so, and based booking around it. Operative word being 'supposedly'.

Clubs base booking around it, yeah, but that doesn't say why the poll is a "good" thing.

It does explain why it's become a vital part of it all though...

I guess I was referring more to the fact that they made it sound like the poll was sort of a lifeline of electronic music and that the whole "scene" as it were would fall apart without it.

Yes, because who you vote for in this poll will directly affect how your country is run.

Do you think TA Polls will replace DJ Mag one day?

Are you competing with them? Do you see them as your competitor?

Thanks for that, but the year really isnt important. what is important is how it is a popularity contest and not really who the best dj is and of course the superstars will come out on top. ive seen some damn good djs this year like desyn masiello and danny howells, id be surprised to see them in the top 25 and they are way better than armin or some other top 5 trance act. of course its just my opinion, but the dj mag 100 poll seems like a way for the djs who are on top to stay on top. of course there are noobs everyday who start listening to trance or whatever, and when they hear tiesto is number 1 or whoever is, they will want to go see them (the rich get richer).

look at last years results. oakenfold at 14, i saw him at edc on june 30 and every mix was a trainwreck, seriously. it was like he was taking lines of coke and then was like, uh oh i gotta mix and just moved the crossfader over without checking if the beat was on.

Funny that I always read on TA that Oakeys transitions suck, but when I went to see him this year (somewhere around february) his mixing was pretty decent

No. No. No.

However, it's nice to compare the two when its all said and done... Since the majority of DJ rises/drops should be somewhat consistent...

I meant someone falsely voted for. Halliwell is actually a DJ, where as Infected Mushroom aren't. Sooner or later it'll go one step further, and Paris Hilton will feature on there, or something.
