the brain's no different than working out your body. When you stagnate it, it takes longer to retrieve and process information. Reading, memory, writing, conversing, all those things take longer when you don't do them for awhile.

I went to University for 5 years...switched programs twice and lost two years because of it. went to college for two years after that...ended up with a physics degree and a 3-year electronics diploma. I feel a little behind my high school buddies by graduating at 26, but i am happy where i ended up. don't worry about your age.

going back to school later in life is a bigger mentality issue than academic one. As long as you are self driven and sure that is the direction you want to take, it's the right move. Personally speaking, one of my co-workers is headed back at 38 right now. It's not about when you finish, it's THAT you finish.

Going back to school is NEVER late! There is nothing embarrassing about it, and in the long run, you only gain.

I am thinking about doing my masters when I am about 25 or older (22 now), so I will be in the same position as you.

Who knows, I might not even make it, I am pretty content with my job now. But as I said, education is an ongoing process, and it shouldn't end untill you do! :P

I am doing the same.

You're never too old to study. If anything, an employer would be positively influenced by you demonstrating your commitment to learning.

Agreed, many ppl go back to school for a 2nd degree because they want to change career tracks, or they take a long time to finish getting their first degree due to finances etc.

I would say that professors and even admissions office at schools look favorably upon older students because they have real world experience.

I will be applying for a Radiology Tech program soon, hoping to get in by Fall 2008/9. when I come out of that (as a 2nd degree) I will be 37. If i by then want to go into Radiology itself i would have no problems about continuing on for a more substantial degree.

Also currently working as the Marketing function on my friend's side project, she wants to develop an entrepreneurship and I am helping her to build the business plan and organization structure from the ground up. If it launches successfully in April/May 2008 I will be 35 at the time and we would run it together with a few peers.

Life is all about the journey, education and challenging projects keeps you fresh and your brain young. I have never been so motivated or ambitious ever in my life. Good luck to everyone <3

Trust me, I don't blame you. If you really wanna go back to school than do it but if you're like me(I hope you're not) you'll spend three years in school, find a job, and become bored with it pretty quickly.

I don't like jobs period but since I'm forced to work I always do a half assed job, try to fahk around as much as possible, and sneek out as early as I can. As you can tell I don't take life too seriously and I t...oh my God I'm Homer Simpson.LOL

bro i felt the same way when i was 24, i have the same credentials as u when i was that age too. GO BACK! trust me do it. i wish i did when i was accepted to ryerson for urban development. but i guess im making my own way which isnt that bad

I just turned 25 and am about 3/4 done my Masters. I'm so in debt that, if I decide to do my doctorate, I'll probably have to take off 2 years to work (thinking of doing the English thing in South Korea). So I could potentially be in school until well into my early 30s! It doesn't bother me a bit because I love the school environment so much, even though I'm starting to feel REALLY REALLY OLD walking around a university such as Laurier or Western.

My friend was diagnosed with a disease that put him out of school for 4 years. He's my age and is entering 3rd year. Sure, it bugs him that he's so much older than all the kids he's in class with, but the point is...you're never too old to pursue what you want to do and if you have to go back to school, then go back.

I really can't stand it when some of my friends or acquaintences ride me for being this age and still in school, even though in the end, I'll probably make more money than them and I'm not in that dreadful 9-5 hell....yet.

I switched aftert 3 years of undergrand, and am currently in my second try for undergrad. I will probably finish when I am 25/26. I did feel bad seeing a lot of friends who have been finished for a year or so, but then I realised that almost none of them have jobs related to what they studied, so I knew I made the right decision to switch into something useful.

Don't worry about it. Go out, have fun, study hard, earn a good living.

My mother is doing her MBA part-time - she's been working on courses for 3 years already and has at least 2 more to go. She turns 49 this year - so I don't think 27 is too old to graduate.

haha. well even if ur joking, that's TOTALLY my situation right now -- but thats going to have to change cuz i want to settle down in about 2-3 yrs. as a temp i am definitely good, but mostly on the internet otherwise during downtime (on sites that havent been blocked yet) but its money in the bank and now my goal is to save as much as possible.

for instance, right now im at work, but im creating logo samples for the 'side project' and having an informal discussion with my partner about it on aim via meebo.com so my company cannot block/track it. i guess at least im being productive even tho its not for the right job.
