this thread is on fuego...

ps. for those WHO really know...

Sandra Collins & Anthony Pappa

Posted by Dr. DAS on Sep-05-2007 17:09:

I'm with Button on this...a little buzz helps.

I don't spin, I set up systems and I have to do it day in, day out - stone sober. When I'm doing something less formal than corporate I prefer to have a couple of drinks before getting down to business...not so drunk as to drop gear and screw up patching/routing, but enough that you're happy to go about the job at hand like one of the Seven Dwarves marching into the mine.

I also find that it helps you relax and correct challenges without looking like you're in a panic - even if you are - and there is research to support that those who do imbibe are more accurate in their critical listening than the sucker they tricked into being DD.

Same as a car accident...drunko's relax before the impact and all is well. Soberites tense up and get f*cked.

BTW, you want sketch, you haven't seen anything until you see Ricardo Villalobos. Collins, Pappa, Oakie, Burt & Earney.... he puts them all to shame.

Didn't Jon Jon make a thread dedicated to Ritchie Hatwin's and Sven Vaths antics ? those guys are pretty sketchtakular as well.

Its funny that you mention Pappa...because i seen him with danny howells for an ultra spin in the KH and pappa stole the show...howells was drunk and if i remember correctly he was removed from the stage...that was the second time i have seen howells so drunk he can't perform....from then on i vowed to never go see howells again...nor will support him with any thing he comes out with...i have no repsect for him

I don't remember that happening. I must have been in the main room when that went down.

Posted by the_sauce on Sep-05-2007 18:56:

^^^ i remember a few records running out, he bumped the decks about half a dozen times (making the records skip)....i was so disappointed

maybe being removed from the stage may not be correct (maybe i wanted him to leave) it was awhile ago....but i remember how shit his set was

Posted by Silky Johnson on Sep-05-2007 18:57:

LOL...yeah honestly, I really don't remember him being "removed". I do remember it being a sloppy set though...you're right about that.

Posted by DaRoZa on Sep-05-2007 19:52:

sven vath lol

in this case looks like the dj tripping out is making it more fun for everyone else... but if they are an experienced dj that doesnt know their limits of when it will affect their set in a bad way, that's very bad imo

Posted by King Luis on Sep-05-2007 20:38:

who remembers yoji and his champagne bottle??

If it makes any difference to you I've seen Danny Howells over 10 times (Spain, England, Miami, Montreal) and he's never let me down nor acted in a "sloppy" way. He is one of the most consistent dj's I have ever seen.

i remember this night. it was ultra spin 2 in 2003. i just went through some pics that i have from that night and he doesn't look wasted in the pics, but i definately remember him being drunk.
