If you KNOW your budget is minimal, then that's what you spend.

i had an ex g/f of 4 years who loved to use me for my money and i would buy her expensive shit but i wasnt happy buying it for her. turns out we broke up soon after i bought her a 400 dollar present. since then ive been with my girl for a year on the 24th of this month and ive bought her 2 moderately expensive presents but i think shes worth it.

in my opinion an indication of a good g/f is one who likes to be given presents but also likes to give you in return.

Buying birthday gifts for a significant other is a tithe of sorts. The value of the gift scales with your income. If you make a hell of a lot of money, you better get her something damn nice.
