Ah, yes, but at a club? Do you ask for a 'big glass of Vodka+whatever' and ask for shitloads of ice? I think not

ice tea ftw!

Posted by tubularbills on Sep-08-2007 10:12:

not really a fan of ice. its not completely necessary

Posted by Omega_M on Sep-08-2007 19:59:

shape and size don't matter, so long as it keeps my drink cool and enjoyable.

Posted by AndreaCKY772 on Sep-08-2007 20:23:

i don't like ice. only time i use ice is to make smoothies and i blend it in so it's slushy...

but ice is excellent for restaurants/bars that like to fill the cup with ice and leave the rest of space to the good stuff.

Posted by tubularbills on Sep-08-2007 21:27:

cool trick to do:

put a glass of water in the freezer for enough time for it to get supercooled (i.e., it's liquid @ 32F/0C). then touch it with a small chip of ice, or drop an ice cube in it. the entire amount of liquid will turn into an ice/slushy mix.

that's meteorology at work baby, yeah!

wont the glass break ?

i know if the glass is hot and you put cold water, it will break. i imagine vice-versa as well.

nope. just supercooled water, that's all.

ps, sorry for the half naked german guy. lol

better vid - showing it into slushie, instead of solid ice.

Fiji water experiment

That's not really meteorology is it

It's actually a good question. Usually the glass breaks when it is suddenly exposed to a large temperature difference. In this case, the water is a little under 0 C. It merely crystallizes due to the addition of ice particles. Will the glass break ? Hmm, crystallization is an exothermic process, so heat is generated. How much heat will it generate ? Not enough to break the glass. But super cool the water down to - 40 C and then crystallize it. Maybe the glass will break in that case.

Ok, there's a negative sign before 150. And even that is extreme. So, bring it down to -40 C.

and yes, snail, it's meteorology, because clouds/rain/ice can do it too. all you need is for one tiny little ice crystal to hit a super cooled cloud, and BAM! blizzizzard

Arrowhead Springs water into the ice tray, then 2 cubes into my water. The only way to dine with a champ.
