-- BOA returning? (fact or rumour)
Pages (4): « 1 [2] 3 4 »
I dunno, I just don't think a club can afford to draw a line in the sand like that. Sure, there will be people who don't go because the gays are there or the straights are there, but I don't think that number compares to the total number of people you segregate into various nights. Furthermore, unless the total number of each can keep the nights running on their own (which didn't seem to go so well last time), then there's no point trying to separate the two crowds just to keep the minority happy about who they have to share the dancefloor with.
Boa is dead. Let it rest in peace.

LOL....Jerome just called to tell me about this thread !
Some of you write with such certainty, I am sure you were witnesses to the second shooter on the grassy knoll, while others have just been returned after being abducted at Roswell, especially Techead and Chinamon.
Boa's soundsystem is where it has been since we closed, at my house and my own storage space, other rumors are just that ! It shall remain there until the right space or the right buyer comes along.
Boa was a very special place at a special time, replicating it is a virtual impossibility but.........never say never again !
Rony.
great! thanks for the info

When I see threads stop bitching about the carwash - then /maybe/ things will work, but hate to say it : sweaty clubs, hot shirtless men seem to go hand in hand with gay parties, and pretty much /every/ review thread I've read of a party that was "mixed" has people bitching about gays, or shirtless gays. |

I would rather be around girls and guys than just guys. (re: I am straight) 2. It seems that the gay community is very "open" when it comes to public displays of affection. Personally, I don't like to see that. I don't like to see that whether the 2 (or more) parties involved are male, female, or what have you. I'm not going to say they should stop. They are free to do what they want, but I'd just prefer to not go there and witness it. From what I know, it's the second point that most straight people have a problem with. The second point has nothing to do with prejudice. |
Why do the displays of affection bother you?

My biggest problem with gay parties: too many sweaty men walking around without a shirt on. And rubbing against me even if inadvertently.
GROSS!
(that goes for any clubbing even generally too)
Maybe its just my mindset, but I'm fine with the man-pit PDA that goes on at a Circuit Party, hell - even if its Girl on Guy - I dont mind, but if I'm at a general after-hours, PDA (regardless of gender combo) bothers me.
Gotta say, now and then I do enjoy getting lost in the man-pit and being a bit dirty - but generally leave that kind of behavior to circuit/100% gay parties and not mixed/straight events - theres a time and a place for that sort of thing, and for some reason events like Pride Ball seems to be one of them, while say - a regular night at Boa / Stereo / Sonic / etc is not.
