There was life before facebook there will be life once it's gone!

On a side i can't stand the facebook lurkers and the people who use it to spy on others ... like this girl at my work who joined her new b.f network just so she could see what he was posting on other peoples walls people like her make me sick.

But facebook and other similar means can help build a relationship. Obviously face-to-face contact is a necessity in any important relationship, however they can help.

I've made several friends that I would consider close through facebook. I may have met them informally through a third party and later added them through facebook. I then began talking to them on a more regular basis and became closer to those ppl and felt like I knew them next time I met them face-to-face.

Without facebook, I may not have developped these friendships.

agreed.

People are far too loose with the term Friendship IMO. I have many acquaintances, but only a handful of friends that I truly care about and would help them with anything if they needed/asked - and quite frankly, I'd rather keep it that way.

I only add friends that are people who I actually know / knew outside of the internet + family members.

ive told many female friends off for adding all these creepers all over the world. ive also told off friends who try to add my friends b/c they know me. "hey just wanted to say hi. you seem like a cool chick. i know justin so i thought id add you and maybe we can go out some time." ummm negatory.

edit: another thing i hate is those stupid groups like if this group has 1000000 members, ill name my kid this. like seriously, wow, you have lots of members in your group... big deal

mmmm anyways, back to creeping..

Completely agree with you here. It has advanced so many friendships I have made with people I don't see all that often.

Sadly the same. When I'm on the computer, I'm literally checking it every 10-15 minutes. Doesn't help that the only other daily website I visit is TA.

In a related story, I also cannot live without Wikipedia.

very true. right it may serve as a good way to break the ice. Ive def gotten acquainted with many people using online networking sites. And if they seemed like worthwhile people then I would take the time to meet them, otherwise never, unless ive met them somewhere before...

"Friend-collectors" are pathetic lol esp on MYSPACE where they run rampant (I just delete requests from ppl who i dont know, and I keep my profile page viewable to only my friends).

cool can i add him?? i'll invite him to all the CZ events..

Posted by Cribby on Sep-11-2007 20:53:

Since I don't go on msn, Facebook is ideal for me, especially to just ask friends weekend plans; I'm too lazy to ask everyone on msn. Besides, I'm not adding all my facebook friends to msn...that's just asking for trouble!

My mother is on there, so is my aunt.
But back up for a second - people join FB to make friends?

Only people I knew a long time ago or feel close to now are on my list. I've declined people I've never met simply because I keep FB for people I actually know. Which reminds me, I think I'm going to clean up my list a bit.

I just can't stand getting multiple invites for the same event.
