Card gaming will never be the same, and you are ready to purchase this with the 'Magic' mod when it goes for sale!

Oddly enough, I saw a third of the top floor at a SEGA arcade in Akihabara dedicated to digital card games like that.

I still don't do really anything at all with my old 2G iPod other than listen occasionally. I'm too lazy to even upload new stuff to it. But who knows, I might eventually buy one if I'm not too cheap

one thing you fail to realize is that the touch and iphone arent hard drive based. they are flash based which means quicker access to music and none of the hd failure problems. and flash memory can alter its memory allocation when areas of it go bad.

I'd recommend getting the 160GB iPod instead. That's what I'm getting, since like someone else said I would fill up 16GB in 10 minutes...

I've really never understood why the look of an MP3 player matters. Because, ya know, when I'm listening to my music it's comforting to know that the player hiding in my pocket looks better than everyone elses.

I'd also apply the same thing to phones, given the amount of time they're spent in pockets.

Enjoy your Touch.

hehe i feel this way too. i dun have anything.

i feel like there is something better than what is available...or at least - more simple! there is always a hook, or a hurdle to todays players.

i know thats due to the music industry, but it feels like a floppy disk that you have to subscribe to...WHY CANT YOU JUST USE IT AS YOU WANT, simply.

removable disk, music, whatever. its either not simple or not cheap or both. when i can get 1gb microSD for 6 dollars, why does a flash player cost 200 for 8 or an hd with 60 for 300? memory isnt as expensive and that should be passed on to consumers|

(in many cases i know the answers to these issues, they still frustrate me, and thats why i dont have anything yet...)

i get that, but flash mem has lost production cost faster than hd, but hard drives are cheaper? huh?

flash is superior, and i get that a mem card is cheaper to mass produce than a player. but there are many many flash players, with perhaps not as much space, but easily half the price, half the size...(better sound:creative)...than apple.

but not as trendy. creatives have their issues too..but i dunno|

Duh, because it's all about how cool the product you use is, not how good.

Hence why the iPod, which is a completely useless piece of shit, has been so popular.

Holy shit I am too!

I paid $329 for the 16g

And size really doesn't matter to me once we get over 10 gigs. I'm never, ever going to need more music than that at one time - so it's not an issue for me. Beyond that, as I said previously - the selling points for this for me were:

1. Wifi
2. Apple build quality (know from experience)
3. Ease of use

Beyond that, and insofar as the touch-screen goes, I'm going to pick up another Vaja case. They cost a piss ton, but they're worth every penny and will keep it clean.

The only thing that sucks is now it'll be 2 weeks until it gets here, doesn't ship until the 28th.

My iPod Mini that is maybe a little over two years old has a shitty battery. Won't buy another iPod again.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...N82E16855625003

That is supposed to be a good alternative to the current iPod.

But since I don't care for video, I'm looking at the Sandisk Sansa e280 8GB.

Played around with it at Wal-Mart...seems good.

Posted by mezzir on Sep-18-2007 17:16:

i entered the market looking for something durable with a long ass battery life and the erivers been amazing so far

i must say (i dont own or want to own one) but the ipod looks so lush, a bit pricier, but looks totally worth it.

I want it for the wireless use, I don't want a pda/smartphone in my pocket all the time. They're to big. Also when I'm traveling out of country, I'd like to have wireless access with me, without bringing a lap top.

Bingo.

The thing is as slim as my phone.

posting from mine right now. definitely initially impressed.

hadn't seen one until a few days ago...but why would you buy an iphone instead? The only difference seems to be making phone calls, which the iphone blows at, w/ the contracts & what not. Anyone want to elaborate, though?

Agreed, and the iPhone is a LOT thicker than the iPod touch - like it would feel awkward to have in your pocket.

As far as the internet interface goes, it's great - typing is easy, and it's plenty easy to zoom in and what-not. First handheld device I've seen that seems to do interwebs well.

Is there a monthly fee for the Touch to be able to connect to the internet?
