Did you fail to notice the part where I said I worked in a grocery store (ie: retail) all through high school and into my college years?

tell them how you've shopped there for x amount of time, been a loyal customer, blah blah and how humiliated you were when the staff did this to you.

Yeah, I would do that, but I would do it more like a letter to the store, perhaps to the store manager, and CC it to their superiors - like the headquarters. Also, instead of apologizing, you could be the one asking for clarification from them.

That's my idea of the top of my head...

I would definetely go bitch to the store manager or even the corporate office...They owe you a gift card, at least. Yeah, it might be a little dramatic, but just because those people are retards, doesn't mean you have to change your shopping habits.I don't know, maybe it's just me, but I would make sure to get things straight and solve the problem instead of avoiding it. I would have made a huge fuss and caused an even bigger scene... cuz if there is something i'm good at is making a scene ... like ask to speak to a manager and tell them that it's slander because you never left the premisis of the store and they can't just assume that you were going to steal it. etc

What they did is not legal although its not like you can charge them with anythig. Loss prevention is only supposed to accuse customers of stealing once the leave the checkout area. It ridiculous to accuse someone of stealing before they have actually done the deed.

You should write a letter or email head office and the store manager.
