Why wouldn't you play in Philly the same way you usually do? Do you play weekends much in actual clubs? I usually see your name on weeknights and warehouse parties. I don't do either anymore unless its something really big.

Yeah I get to play out at actual clubs from time to time. Last weekend I was at EDN with Mark and Sam and it was really fun. I'll be downstairs with Zack on the 13th for O'Callaghan! We are gonna have a lot of fun and I am really looking forward to that night. I know Zack is a great dj and the transition from my set to his will be really nice.

I have been down to Philly a bunch of times this past year and I would say that the gerenal taste in music down there is different from up here...less pretentious, more banging.

most of the gigs I play in NYC I am usually opening up for a bigger dj...the night we played at Transit, we played the headlining slot in the main room, and the kids before us ended with very banging progressive. I defnitely played a lot of techy tracks that night, but I also played a ton of progressive stuff that I just don't think I would ever play up here...for example, we ended our set @ Transit that night w/ Holden and Thompson - Nothing, into Bedrock - Heaven Sent. lol. It was a freaking blast.

I might come by the 13th. It depends on if I come up to NYC for Trentemoller. Its tough to get people to actually want to go out to random places like EDN so I usually do club nights in Philly only if there is something big going on.

You are right, but I just feel like that gets to be repetitive. There are "banging" tracks being played at 10:00 that are just as "banging" as those at the end of the night. The tastes are different because that is all people get exposed to. Half the problem is that there are 10 djs a night with 45 minute sets so there is no time to build a set.

Totally agree on everything you just said. Philly is a LOT of fun to play at, but the emphasis seems to be far less on having a chin-stroking good time

There is some that but its either on some random weeknight, which sucks, or its out in some warehouse in the ghetto. I don't mind going to some weird location but trying to convince friends of mine to trek into the hood isn't happening.

Have you been to any of the Rizumu parties at Vacuum? Almost everyone I've been to was awesome. Last one wasn't so great for me because I'm not really into that hipster electro funky tech hip swinging... stuff. But mostly everyone else there was going nuts. It's a great scene.

Like I said, its in some sketch part of the city. I know it isn't too bad of a place but its certainly not somewhere most people would be willing to go. Plus, what are your chances of catching a cab out of there at 4 in the morning. I wouldn't want to wander the streets around there.

wow a really good music based thread on NYTA-unfortunately a rarity, im shocked and grateful, nice seeing the "proffesionals" (guys who actually DJ) debate, without personal offence to the others, about what a "bangin opening" track should be, thanks for all the thoughts and i bought this song at beatport beause of this

btw, this track is phenomenal! should have done a little more at the end tho, it just fades out!
