Love Poundin' Sensation

I thought love fest was amazing again this year.
This year I was smart and decided to fly and take Friday off from work since on Fridays I never get off on time no matter what. With out the stress I was over to Sarah's by 2:30 and off to the fly away a little after 3:30. Went the wrong way and had to take the side streets.

Get to the fly away and we where on the 4:30 bus.. cutting it a little close for a 6pm flight out of LAX. Sarah and I started to worry a little bit that we where not going to make it. But Sarah got a phone call from Julie saying the flight was delayed by 1/2 hour. Normally we hate delays but this time we where so thankful. There was so much Traffic on the 405 and on the street to the airport. We get there by 6pm! We could not use the automatic check in since we past the 45 minute mark. And the first lady was not helpful in telling us where to go. Finally we where able to check our bags in late and we did a mad dash to our gate. When it rains it pours so we had do a mad dash down a long hallway to get on the our gate. Got to the gate met Julie and Mat and got a quick bite to eat. On the plane we where those people You know the ones that talk and laugh.

Once at SFO we take the BART to the civic center stop. And look at a map to see what direction we where to go. Instead of cutting across the civic center we take a min tour of Van Ness. And walk a very large circle up hill with our heave bags. Get to the opal check in and get in to our room.. but it was the wrong room! When Christine reserved the room she asked for a Jr. Excutive non smoking suite. We got a standard smoking room! Was told that we where stuck for the night since there where no rooms available but could switch on Saturday.

So Sarah and I got ready met up with Greg and Leah and went to the love lee party. Catch a cab in SF is tough. We walked to the corner of the street and every cab had some one it. Leah caught a Lincoln Town car and we got a ride to the Mighty from "Tony the Taxi" for $15 But at least it was a ride.

For the last 2 years I have heard nothing but amazing stories about the Love Lee Party and I have never been to the Mighty. We get there and there where no issues getting in and the club was pretty empty. The Mighty it self was a cool little club with a true underground feel. Outside of the smoking patio there was a party bus. I thought that was really cool. I got in sat in the drivers seat and honked the horn. (got in trouble the second time for doing that though... opps) The sound system at might was not the best in the world. To me it sounded distorted and too loud.
I thought the Vibe there was great and everyone seem to be having a really great time. Musically I was board. Bill Patrick's set went no where for me at all. It was a real snooze fest. Lee Gets on. He plays a few good tracks but I was a little disappointed in his set too. Again the music really did not go anywhere for me.. It was missing something. At 3am I was done with the party and Greg, Leah and I went to go catch a cab. We saw people walking on top of the hill to snag them. We decided to do the same thing and had to jumped in the middle of the street to catch a cab go back to the hotel and get some sleep.

We woke up at 8am to start getting ready. Take advantage of Opals free breakfast since we knew that would be the only meal for most of the day and get our outfits ready and head down to the start of the parade. The walk down the streets in our outfits is part of the whole parade experince. We where getting stange looks and cat calls from all over the place. Past a sightseeing bus and we where part of the tour. Get down in second and market just in time. Sarah, Kris and Patrick and I signed our life's away and got wrist bands to ride the float again this year!!!!

With my signs and hearts ready. The parade starts around 12:30 and we head down market street. Seeing the parade from the float is such an amazing experince! Nothing threw out the year comes even close to that experince. I love being up there dancing and showing my support to the great promoters who put together this weekend. In the crowd you see such a melting pot of people! Old people, babies, City workers, collage kids, candy kids, naked people, people in costumes and people trying to figure out what is going on. The parade ends at the civic center and the Spundae/skills float parks in front of Bill Graham.

Gil and Fei-Fei are the first ones on the decks and played a great Tag team set! They got to play longer since Crystal Method did not show.. Robert Nickson was on next and killed it as well. There where people as far as the eye could see having a great time! After Robert was done it was time for a float break and walk around to the other floats. The D&B float by the Spundae float where going off. The coolest float I thought was the one where it looked like the Dj was flying the plane.
While walking around there was so much to look at that I looked lost. I ran into some of my friends though and met some new ones as well.

I am bummed that I missed Jody, GTR and Eddie H.'s set. I head that Eddie did a float dive into the crowd! But I had such an amazing experince walking around. Around 6:30 I hit my wall and smelling all the food made me so hungry. So Sarah and I decided to leave get some food and get a quick nap before the after hours. We heard that the after hour line was nuts. But we all ready had our tickets and got to go threw a really short fast line. Grabbed some gateraid met up with Friends and went into the main room where Robert Nickson was playing. I thought he played a great set. JOOF is up next and kills it as well. At this time the main room was packed. And people where walking and pretending that you where not there. It was like they where in there own little world and they where the only occupants. Thanks to Robert Sarah and I got to go back stage where we met selma JOOF's wife. She was very nice. What I heard from G&D it was awful! I was like WTF? Once Sasha got on we went back to the Vip area of the main room. I am not a huge fan of Sasha and most of the time I am board with his sets. This time however I was really impressed!!! He was actully playing Beats!!!

Before Sasha was done I went to the restroom and heard Ferry was on his way. When he came I went over to say hi and chat a little and it was back out to enjoy sasha.

Once Ferry was on it was time to Brave the crowd. It was hard for me to be in the back and not able to see him. I love loved Ferry's set! Every one went nuts when he played Heaven Scent, beautiful, Brain Box. The energy was amazing on the main floor. There was a girl who decided that it was cool to jump on stage and get in the Dj both with Ferry. WTF. She was about to get kicked out when she jumped down. I was wondering where the bouncers where at this time Before Ferry ended Sarah and I go back to the VIP area.

At 4 the event ends and we say good buy to everyone. For me the after party is icing on the cake to the love fest parade itself. My wall was hit hard so I did not go to the end up. At 11am I woke up and started getting my bags packed to check out. Sarah comes back from the end up with news that Lee was going to be playing from 12-8pm with Lee. We plan the day where we could go to the end up/folsem street fair/ spundae pool party. But since nothing goes according to plan. We stop at walgreen for some thing to drink. I had my Camera on my hand and when I move it the Camera fell and the batter fell out! under the self. I got the people working there to help me find it. They where tearing the area apart. I felt so bad. I left them my contact just in case. About a block down the lady runs out with my battery. YES.

We get to the end up a little after 1pm. The end up reminded me of The Space Terrace/ Avalon Terrace/ Canteen all wrapped out in one. It was an experince for sure. And it looked like some people where there right at 5am and would be there until 8pm. The music was pretty good. Better then Friday. And lee was being Lee. He is such a crack up!

At 4:15 it was time to check out the folsem street fair since I have never been. I have never seen that many naked men in my whole life. There was no large circle jerks but men just doing it on the street. There was an area where men where getting wiped and enjoying it.. and other strange bondage booths. There was a condo looking building where people where sitting outside yelling down at others. An officer came by to talk to them... I thought to myself.. oh wow everything goes down here BUT sitting on a roof! The fair was for sure an experience!

After that it was time to head back to the hotel and head to the airport. On the BART we sat in a smaller seats and then Sarah spots a seat where we could fit our bags better, and it happens to be a seat in front of a CRACKHEAD! He was talking to himself saying the most random things making everyone around him uneasy. Thank god someone said the next stop was the way to Oakland!

We get to the airport in enough time.. go down the run way and the captain gets on the intercom and pretty much tells us that there where 3 other flights going to LAX at the same time and we had to wait.. 45 minutes later we where in the air. We arrived into LAX a little before 10. the time I was hoping to be on the road to to Club Vegas to see Ferry again. But we still had to catch the fly way bus. That took forever too. Sarah and I where in Burbank a little bit before Midnight. There was no way I was going to make it to Ferry

I had such an AMAZING time/ weekend up in San Francisco! I can not wait to go next year!!!!
A big thank you to Sarah, Kris, Partick, Greg, Leah and the all the rest for making it possible. (Christine you where missed)
I also want to give a shout out to Spundae/skills for yet another great year!!!

I am working on my pictures now. I will post them soon!

Right then...

Thursday
Drove down. Nothing much really, 14 hours of driving sucks. Got to my hotel and figured that because it was $85/night and I booked it a month in advance that it would be a piece of shit. It was in dirty area of town, about two blocks west of the Glide Memorial Church. The outside looked dumpy, letters were missing from the sign, and when the guy handed me the key to my room it turned out to be an actual key. I felt uneasy about the whole situation, but I opened my room and it was the nicest hotel room I'd ever stayed in. A minimal-ish design to it, complete with flatscreen HD TV. I guess the reason for the cheap price was the neighborhood.

Friday
Walked around town a bit and met up with a friend who's living there while attending the Academy of Art. We saw Resident Evil 3 (crappy, as was expected) and went to Virgin to pick up some CDs. I snagged Telefon Tel Aviv's "Fahrenheit Fair Enough" and Boards of Canada's "Music Has the Right to Children." Telefon's album is massive win. Headed over to Chipotle for dinner with my friend, then made the long walk to the venue for the Chems.

Got in early enough to catch the opening DJ. Dear God was she terrible. The majority of her set I swear she had the gains and EQs cranked as high as each knob could go because all I could hear from the speakers was the sound of her peaking. Absolutely terrible. Ladytron was okay, I'm just not a fan in general.

The Chems put on a sick show, but it wasn't as good as the show they had for Push the Button back in '05. Absolutely sick visuals, though. I was excited when they started to play The Sunshine Underground, but they really rushed into the build (which totally makes the track) and lost all the energy it could've had. Was great meeting Bas there.

Saturday
Parade/Festival
Woke up early, figured I'd show up to the meet. Nobody really showed up so I headed to the start of the parade. Followed the Kontrol float all the way to the festival grounds, where I headed over to the Listed float and met up with Bas, Clovis, Tigo and the whole group. Was great meeting you guys. The Listed float absolutely DESTROYED all day despite power failures, and the last hour was simply nuts. The DJ that played last ended appropriately on Louis Armstrong's version of What a Wonderful World.

Afterparty
HOLY SHIT! You have got to be kidding me! My jaw hit the floor last night. No, it's not because some DJ blew me out of the water, it's because the doors OPENED ON TIME and we actually got in just five minutes after that. I was shocked, absolutely shocked.

As for the rest of it? Sucked ass, but worse than I expected. I'll get into a rant in a second here, but I'll give a gist of the night first. I met Tigo in line, hung out with him for a bit before Psiweaver said he was at the front. I hopped in line with him and got in. We sat around as Deep Voices/Dyloot played music that was suitable only for a 2AM or 3AM set, but it was only 9PM. We checked out Three in the side room, who was okay. The rest of the group wanted to see J00F so we headed back to the main room. Meh, nothing special. Three came on, but we were getting food and we didn't catch him. We sat in the bleachers and hung out, and I honest to God fell asleep during Gabriel and Dresdens set. Sasha came on at the flow of energy in the building was so messed up (just wait 'til my rant) and we were all tired so we left. I passed out and passed out good. So sore the next morning.

Afterparty Rant
I said to Psiweaver as soon as we got in that there had to be a catch to us actually making it in on time. Lo and behold, there was!

That was seriously the most Godawful, disgusting timeslot setup I have ever seen.

Firstly, Deep Voices/Dyloot were playing at 9PM what should be played at 2 or 3 AM. Way too hard for an opening act. I didn't catch Nicksons set so I can't really speak on that part. J00F threw down, sure, but WAY too early in the night. What the fuck were you thinking by putting Three, who plays significantly softer than J00F on for just a FIFTEEN MINUTE set after him? If I were three I would've stuck on a fifteen minute track and just left. Then you had Gabriel and Dresden up the tempo and energy in the room only to have Sasha, who plays sets softer than G&D come on after them and build a set for Ferry.

Sitting in the main room listening to all of it felt like a clusterfuck of energy. I was appalled. If anything, it should've been Three -> Sasha -> G&D -> Deep Voices/Dyloot -> Nickson -> J00F -> Ferry. Yes, you'll tell me like you have in the past that there is only so much you can do with the lineup because of the way certain artists have their contracts set, etc. but you should predict that in advance and plan for it.

Disgusting. Not to sound like an asshole or anything here, but after three years of this I'm happy that I'll be 21 next year and will have other options available to me for an afterparty. Never again.

Oh, and I understand that it's a venue deal and not your fault, but what the hell was up with putting water in the cups and not giving out bottles? They cited safety reasons? What the hell? Yeah, okay, making it easier to slip something into someones water is sure a hell of a lot safer.

Sunday
Woke up, couldn't walk. Stayed in my hotel room all day.

Monday
Here I am, after the 14 hour ride back. The trip concluded what was seriously the best month ever. I traveled to Vancouver to see Digweed, Denver to see Underworld, saw BB King play, and partied at what I thought was the best LPSF to date with some awesome TAs. Excellent weekend all around.

I'll have photos and videos up tomorrow. Right now, I feel like I'm about to faceplant into my keyboard.

everyone WAS cracked out... i dont think a single person in there was sober or had not partied at some point during the day... hence: AFTERPARTY

Yeah Lovefest this year was awesome although I didn't really get to experience the day party too much, I was still hung over from the night before. Similar to last year's production with a bit more laser. The afterparty I think had worse lighting than last year but the music made up for it. Definitely J00F owned me again. Did anyone know the first track that Sasha played? I know I heard it before. Anyways, I mainly stayed with my friends I came with, but I did run into Sweet Kandi Girl and In2Muzik. It was good seeing you two. I didn't stick around for the 1015 After, after party; as I had my own. Anyways it was an awesome weekend and i'm still recovering.

Blurr started the evening with a bang. I received an awesome ear fucking from Ish. That was the first time ive ever seen Ish spin. Dude your set was fantastic. It was more than what i expected thank you.

It wasnt the first and definitly not the last time ive seen Infected Mushroom. AWESOME, SEXY, FUCKING WICKED set it was from Infected Mushroom.

GTR done a good job keeping me on my feet

Thanks you, Taj for the great set and another awesome weekend. Always well worth the 3 hour drive from Fresno. I live for these type of weekends.

Wow, what a weekend and Direct, thank you for your kind feedback. Local Love float by far exceeded everyone's epectations and I was happy to be a part of it. It was a very sunny day and I'm glad it didn't rain. Everyone had an amazing set and Lexxx and Skwallie rocked and so did Koroma, Vahid, IM and TAj and Dirty Hertz. I wasn't able to catch Mystre, Gareth or Blurr's set at the end as I need to go home and rest for the evening to break down the float.

It felt amazing to play on the float and the enrgy that people gave back during my set was breathless.

Only thing that dissapointed me was Blurr flaunting an infected mushroom sign to the crowd right next to me to me while i'm playing. People kept coming up to me asking what the hell that was all about?

The night of 1015 was amazing and the whole energy that IM brought was stellar. I felt thier live set was much better than the last time they came. They totally rocked. Gareth came on and he played some killer tracks and set the mood perfect for the rest of the night. By 4 am, my body began to shut down and I had to get my long awaited rest. I know Taj is a wicked trooper who somehow manages to stay up. How he does, I will never know.

Thanks everyone for making Local Love a success and thank you Taj and DirtyHertz for the successful float that you both produced for the memorable weekend. Till next year.

here are some of my highlights of the weekend

FRIDAY
I have heard so much about PVD and now was able to see and hear it myself. I really enjoyed his set at 1015 and he is the DJ that stands out the most for me during the entire weekend. That just shows what a trancehead I am lol So happy we went to check him out on Friday and cant wait to see him in Toronto- regardless how packed its going to be as PVD is a no show in Toronto for about 4 years I think.

SATURDAY
Tordan and I had a late start on Saturday, 1st coz of the night out before and 2nd coz we wanted last through entire after party. We showed up around 3 pm and I found all that was happening on the Love Fest grounds a bit overwhelming. Love Fest was my 1st event of this size. I felt wanted to be everywhere at the same time so we ended up wandering around taking some pics and taking in all the sights and the music. We spent most of the time by skills and spundae float. I had a good time during Donalds set and found GnD entertaining too.

I cannot name most of the DJs I heard since I am still a newbie on this scene and it didnt help not having a flyer with float and dj names as well as set times. (I found out later that there was a flyer with a map of floats and just dj names listed but they were all gone by the time we got to the grounds) One suggestion to the organizers is please please have this sorted out for the next year. It takes away from the musical experience not knowing who you are listening to and it does not help djs to promote their work either. So the entire afternoon is a bit of a blur, and no I dont drink lol

Now off to the After party to the Civic Centre. I was happy that the doors opened on time and we got in pretty fast. I did not expect it to be so cold standing in line and it reminded me of partying in Toronto lol About other logistics- civic centre was not really packed except right in front of the main DJ stage and the line ups to washrooms or to get drinks were not that bad either

I spent most of the time in the main area and had most fun during Sasha's set. WTF was that track with the bells he played? That was amazing pure pleasure to my ears. I did go crazy at some point during everyones set but none blew me away completely.
During Ferrys set I ended up going to the bleachers and there was a little balcony in the middle facing the dj stage below. That was really cool, dancing in the middle, above everyone else and seeing the projections and lightshow in tune with the music.

SUNDAY
The party didnt stop at 4am. After hearing about Endup I had to see what is the afterhours scene like in San Fran. Endup is a cozy little place with great vibe and not a lot of sketch. Yes, you read that right, not a lot of sketch. Compared to Comfort Zone in Toronto, Endup is really mellow and tame.

Some shout outs
Rizo -I think it was not meant for us to meet at this Love Festlol. Tordan and I came really close checking out 222 on Thursday but did not go in and im pretty sure you are on some of my pics from PVD at 1015. Next time, rite
Julie and Matt you guys are great! I am soo happy Matt felt like having some gum during PVD's set! I know you are not native to SF but you made me feel so welcome and partying in SF felt like partying at home because of you. And Matt thanks trying to be protective. That was really sweet of you. Hope we can do it again! SF, LA, TO...? We will see...
In2muzikk- thank you for carrying the torch for me. The idea of a meet up on Friday worked out for us (Tordan, in2muzikk, Thrax and I) thanks to you! It shows you are a well seasoned party goer and are in it purely for the music. Wish we had a chance to spend more time together so I can hear all about your experiences in international waters and getting some more EDM lessons. Thanks for the TA bracelet! And Chris thanks for the lovely photos! It was a pleasure meeting you both
Gypsygirl and sweetcandygirl- you girls rule, I loved your outfits and admire the energy and effort that went into preparing for the Love Fest! You had it all planned out including your earrings. Thats awesome!

So let's try and piece this weekend together in word forms.

Friday - Took work off because I knew I would need the morning to pack and make sure I had everything because it would be the last time I had full brain capability. Left Sacramento around 4pm with Michelle and Brooke and got into the city around 5pm. Checked into Hotel Metropolis and started what would be a marathon weekend

Prepartied until around 9pm and went to see Chemical Brothers at Concourse. HOLY SHIT!!!! UNBELIVEABLE SHOW!!! I didnt know what to expect but they BLEW ME AWAY!!! CRAZY VISUALS (that included robots and brains) AND CRAZY SOUND!!!!!!!!

Left around midnight to catch to Lee Burridge at Mighty. Got there and saw all the LATAs in full force. Mighty wasnt too packed which was good and the music was dark and dirty. Within 15 minutes I lost everyone Had no idea where anyone was and couldnt find my friends. Its not that Mighty is that big of a club but I guess I was retarded and couldnt see anyone except for outlines of peoples bodies. Anywho, found them later and checked out the patio. The patio was playing SICK DIRTY BEATS! Nice bus element as well.

Left Mighty around 2:45am to catch PvD and Taj at 1015. (took 20 minutes to get a fucking cab) but made it to 1015 to catch the last 45 min of PvD which was WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!! First time experiencing him and I was VERY impressed, even though others said the previous 3 hours was not good. The kryo element was absolutely FUCKING NUTS!!! But even though PvD was good, Taj killed it. My favorite set that weekend for sure The track selection was INSANE with ALL BANGERS!!!! Felt so good to be home.

BEST MOMENT OF FRIDAY - Taj filled the place up with kryo prior to a build up and then when you couldnt see anything but the smoke and strobing colors in your eyes, and all you could hear was the music getting higher and more climatic and then he just dropped the NASTIEST BEAT AND EVERYONE WENT FUCKING NUTS!!!! WOOOOO SHIT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Saturday - No sleep yet, powered through the morning and was waiting for the parade to start. Went to the parade around 11? Walked down and saw all the floats and then they started moving. Ran with the Spundae float for a bit and then made my way up to Local Love where I stayed until we docked.

Local Love Float was awesome. Great sets all day by everyone! Sets I heard were from Lexxx and Skwallie, Ish, IM, Taj, Dirtyhertz, Blurr and Vahid. The Psy trance was GOING OFF!!!!!!!!!
WOW, HUGE CROWD FOR THE PSY!!!! Probably the most I have ever enjoyed psytrance. SOOOOOO MUCH ENERGY!

Other float highlights were Spundae, the airplane one, Listed, whatever one Donald Glaude was at and MANY others. One float highlight for me was hearing Higher State of Consciousness early in the day. That brought back alot of memories.

THE BEST VIBE EVER DURING THE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! SO MANY CRAZY PEOPLE, SO MUCH LOVE, SO MUCH GREAT MUSIC!!!!!!!!!!

That night we went checked out the Afterparty. Was really only there to see Ferry but J00F and Sasha were no brainers as well. To reiterate what everyone else said, what a weird vibe at the Bill Graham. WAY TOO MANY CANDYKIDS AND CRACKHEADS AND PACIFIERS AND MASKS AND 10 yr old HOES. And everyone was an asshole. Very rude and disrespectful.

Besides that J00F fucking OWNED that place!!! Crazy set! Best set that night. Ferry was great but the speakers fucked up 20 minutes into his set. Oh well!

Went to 1015 after Ferry and got to see Taj and a lil bit of Gareth Emery. Another great way to end the night is with all the homies! Stayed there till closing and afterwards went to the hotel to change and get ready to go to the End Up!

Sunday - Since there was no time to sleep we skipped it again on Saturday. So Sunday morning legs were fucked, brain was fucked but Burridge and the Listed crew were spinnin all day at the End Up so we couldnt miss that!!!!

Powered up and recharged we headed out to the End Up around 9am? Walked in and witnessed the best music you could hear on a Sunday morning, FILTHY HOUSE MUSIC!!!!!!!!! Those Listed guys destroyed the place all day! Burridge's set time was from 12pm - 8pm LOL!!!!!! We stayed all day and Burridge OWNED!!! Top 2 sets I heard all weekend no doubt. Never heard Lee before this weekend, and now he has a new fan. FUCKINGA AWESOME!

We left the End Up at 7pm on Sunday night since we had to drive back to Sac. Got home and finally found time to lay down and go to bed. Which was awesome.

In conclusion, one of the greatest times with friends and with the best music anyone could ask for.

THE END

Sorry Ish. People kept coming up to me asking me if We were serious, and if INFECTED MUSHROOM Was really gonna be on the float. I probably was asked more than a dozen times. I was doin it to hype the crowd up. It worked though... The majority of the people who saw the sign stayed in front of our float pumpin their fists in the air to whoever came on. What really made it unique, was 4-5 times they were pumpin their fists.. it was locals playin. Thats what was badass about it all, people love locals, and it shows. I also handed out about 900 or so CDs to the crowd in front.

The signs were a great idea, Im glad my friend actually pulled through and we were able to showcase who was playing....

So.. where have I been? Some of you have been calling and leaving messages on my phone, on my myspace, email.. etc..

Im ok.. I made it home.. and yes... I been recovering.

last weekend brough on a very mild case of pnumonia for me. I also have a hacking cough from being out on the cold wind both ways to and from the location on the float.

This weekend took alot out of me. By Sunday morning, I was completely drained. Between Thursday and Sunday.. the days seemed to blur together and I woke Monday afternoon not knowing what time it was. I been off work since Monday... Ima finish out the rest of the week in bed resting.

Heres how my weekend went...

Friday night we headed out to the club, PVD was rockin the decks as I approached the mainroom booth, and happily I was greeted by everyone anticipating the next coming day. I was happy to see the club in top form, including seeing some old friends I havent seen in a while. After a long week, this is exactly what I was looking forward to.

I usually make it a point to stay for TAJ's closing sets.. but this night I knew I had to leave early to come back and help with the float.

I left the club early, took a quick 45 minute nap from SF to PA...picked up the poster signs with the names in Redwood city at my boys house, drove my girl all the way back to san jo, with enough time to print labels for my CDs to give out on the float, and a quick shower. Pumped some gas, grabbed some monster, and was back off to SF again to help construct the local love float.

When I got there, I was greeted by TAJ & Dirtyhertz, and Skwallie who looked just as dazed as I did from the night prior. Everyone else arrived, Koroma, Ismael, Lexxx. We got to work and quickly began building the float.

Marie wasent around, so I had to wire things up myself this time around. Thanks to Allen & Heath, we obtained a brand spankin new, XONE92, and a huge BOX of black XONE Tshirts to give out. (I gave em all out and didnt keep one)

I also brought along my new M-Audio Firewire 410 for recording. (DO NOT EVER BUY THIS PIECE OF SHIT, I RETURNED IT... MORE LATER)

Everything was wired, and ready to go....

Also, what suprised me was what else was in the box, a brand new set of Allen & Heath headphones.

Everything was set, so all we had to do was get to the location to setup the remaining portion of banners, and then we were off.

Koroma started first, and I couldnt get the meters set right to record his set, so I think recording commenced sometime the first time of Skwallie and Lexx's first set. I have the recording im going to proof, so that will be up later for you all to enjoy.

YES, I DID RECORD INFECTED MUSHROOM'S SET LIVE. I will see how it sounds and if its good I will post it here.

Theres so much I wanna say.. but ill stop here for now so I can rest a bit....

Basically throughout the day, there was nothing but non stop smiles from everyone, even the naked people. I guess maybe it was my pants.

What made last weekend special to me was being a part of the parade,.. being part of the scene I so much have loved for so long. Being able to give back and say fuck ya. Its an experience Ill be able to share with others, and say I actually participated in something like this. I put all my energy into this.. and will gladly do it again.

Thank you to Skwallie for dropping that Oceanlab track too.

My meds are kickin in... Ill stop writing for now..

To everyone I met last weekend, hello! LATA and SFTAS, you guys fuckin rock, lets continue to fuckin party together!

Next year, IMA put KRYO on the float. THATS A PROMISE.

Thanks for all the love to the Listed crew guys. What a weekend we had. Despite the generator issues, we got plenty of time at the LoveFest for us to show our stuff, and it rocked.

Qool float, Auralism/Kontrol float were two of my favorites other than ours. City Hall side had the best music! Auralism/Kontrol, Blasthaus, Qool, Listed? Sign me up!

Drum and bass float. Sheesh. Got enough sound boys? LOL. That thing was loooouuud.

LoveLee, LoveFest, Vessl, Endup. All amazing parties. Lee's last three hours at Endup were just ridiculous.

Get on our mailing list at www.listedproductions.com if you want to keep informed. Much more fun to come in the future.

Tim

let's see if i can put together a more coherent review of the weekend now...

friday - we hit up chemical brothers, then lee burridge, then pvd

chemical brothers was pretty sick, their production reminded me of daft punk's minus the pyramid. this was my first visit to the concourse, i thought it was a great venue with a lot of potential for other shows (sasha & digweed maybe? ). i wasn't really diggin ladytron's set though and it seemed like most of the crowd wasn't either. everyone was there for chems. another planet can really work on booking better opening acts for these kinds of shows, the last few i've been to didn't compliment at all. the crowd there was kinda weird, definitely different from the clublanders, but once chemical brothers got on, everyone was goin nuts together and the crowd seemed to fit together more.

we left chems 30 min early to cab it over and beat the crowd to mighty, except it took us about 20 min to hail an unoccupied cab. when we got there, the line wasn't bad, 5 min wait. i was hoping mighty would have rented some real subwoofers for the night, but when we got in it was the same sound. nice and crisp, but no audible bass below the 80hz mark. WACK! this setup ruined satoshi tomiie night months back and was sure to ruin lee's bass-heavy music too. other than that, the club's 'outerspacey' decor was pretty sick, the best i've seen the place look. the music outside was hella sick too, a lot of my friends enjoyed as much or more than the music inside. i never got a chance to go in the party bus i kept hearing about afterwards cause the patio was jam packed with bodies.

around 3:30 i was reluctantly dragged out of mighty to catch the end of pvd's set on the other end of soma. i wasn't real thrilled about seeing pvd again because the last set i heard from him at cream, amnesia was filled with fluffy crowdpleasers for the last 2 hours. we get into 1015 and to my surprise pvd is banging it out hard! no greece 2000 crap, just solid, edgy beats. i'm really coming around to see how sooo many touring djs from across the world play their best sets in sf. i mean pvd's set at 1015 blew his amnesia, ibiza set away. and cream is supposed to be the premiere trance party of the world! pvd's set passed by pretty fast for me, then taj went on to close up the night. somehow no matter how hard the headliner rocks the crowd, taj is able to step up the energy a few notches from the first vinyl he slaps down. it really is something to watch...

this night reaally kicked my ass and we went back to the hotel to get some sleep, but at most we got a little bit of 'rest'.

saturday - i spent most of the day at spundae, local love, listed, supperclub, opel/qool and kontrol

since we were just sitting around all morning, we decided to go down and walk around (our hotel is right on market & mason). we get to the staging area around 11 and i'm totally out of it. my phone is dead at this point, which really hijacked my entire day. when the floats start moving, we're at the back with spundae. once on market, we start powerwalking up the line to the local love float. here we find a ton of familiar faces all sucked into the beats vahid, skwallie & lexxx are dropping. vahid was impressive, but what really took me back was the style skwallie & lexxx were playing, bangin! we ended up following local love all the way to the festival grounds. at the festival grounds i buy my first beer, smoke my first bowl and start wandering the field. this is where the sequence of events gets really hazy, but i wander over to spundae's float to say hi to a bunch of people, then back around where the brooding beats at kontrol really catch my ear. from this point on, i was completely sucked into the four prog/house floats lined up against city hall: kontrol, supperclub, opel & listed. my god the beats here were so fresh and so clean i didn't really care that i was on my own at this point. i probably spent a good 3-4 hours here before moving on. all of a sudden i remembered that 3-4 hours ago i was trying heading back to local love, so i did and just in time to catch the end of ismael's set. as i was heading over, i noticed DAMN, there's a helluva crowd at local love, what's reaaally goin on?! the sound of pounding psy trance begins to fade into my peripheral and i was like oh shit, ismael's up. the crowd here was much more enthusiastic and energetic, which took me a minute to acclimate to. i mingled a bit and pretty soon infected mushroom was up. i saw these guys do a live set at 1015 a while back and i must say i thought musically, their dj set was better. the live set was more fun to watch though of course. after hearing most of mushroom's set, i headed back over to listed hoping lee was on. no dice, but i did meet up with a bunch of la friends and together we were all sucked into the beats once again. by about 8pm, i was getting really tired again, found my roommates and we headed back to the hotel for some much needed rest.

saturday night - we hit up the bill graham afterparty, then 1015, then endup

i forget when we got to bill graham, but once inside robert nickson was on. i wasn't really feelin his music and just kinda stood there in the crowd like a sore thumb. i was too tired to even put forth an effort. once j00f got on though, the sound resonated with me and i began to move with the music. most people were hoping j00f would bang it out, i was anticipating a slower set a la global trance grooves 52. well fortunately he banged it out, it was one of the best sets of the night. easily the best trance set. dj three's intermission set was great, even though it was like 2 tracks. the rare treat of hearing that kind of sound at bill graham was captivating. gabriel & dresden had a good start with those prog house tracks, but then they went and fucked everything up by playing tracks like tracking treasure down and the killers. ugh. this was my cue to take a seat in the bleachers. when sasha came on, i stayed in the bleachers just cause it felt so damn good to be sitting down. maybe it was the j i smoked during his slot, but i loooooved sasha's set. it went by so goddamn fast i felt cheated. spundae DEFINITELY needs to work on a sasha & digweed concert at bill graham. i could tell by three and sasha's short sets, the sound those guys produce would own every other show that's ever passed through that venue. by the time ferry got on, my legs were well rested and we decided to brave the crowd below once more. ferry's set was great, it was nice to finally hear brainbox on a 'club system'. we saw some things down in that crowd that would give young kids nightmares though... i will leave it at that!

our trip to 1015 was a big ass blur, i honestly don't even remember walking in, but apparently we did! afterwards we stopped back at the hotel for another breather. i heard from someone that lee burridge's set at endup was going to be a morning set so we rushed out the door around 7. when we get there, i see the timeslot list posted on the dj booth... lee burridge: 12-8pm. holy fuck! fuck! fuck! i already knew i was doomed. there was no way i was gonna make it another 12 hours. well i put forth my best effort and made it to about 3pm at which point i was like i could stay longer, but if i stayed until i began dozing off, how was gonna get home? so i left and ran into my friends at the carwash lot on my way out. apparently they had just found parking when i had thought the whole time they left early lol. in retrospect, i regret with ever fiber of my being, leaving the endup early. my friend who was bored by lee @ mighty could not stop dancing until 6 @ endup. fuck.
