No, I'm not. I either choose not to listen to them or if I do listen and don't like it, then I don't listen to it again. It's not that hard to do, really.

same. they only annoy me if they sound shit and i'm in a position when i'm forced to listen to them.. their existence alone doesn't bother me
if it weren't for remakes then two of my all-time top 4.. actually three of them technically, wouldn't exist

I know what your saying, I'm just thinking out loud. I don't listen to them either I just feel strongly that truly original tracks are fewer and fewer and remakes certainly don't help. Sean Tyas and DJ Tatana are just two examples...DJ Tatana basically reproduced a bunch of big trance tracks from the later 90s and made an album out of them.

Until someone can cite further proof, I'm guessing this is bullshit. If it's real, then I have absolutely zero faith left in Trance and think that Tijs is an absolute cockfuck.

hmm nice long post there...

oops, oh shit, there really is evidence...
disclaimer - the clip is not mine. Future reference to me providing a shit sounding clip, is in no way a reflection of my camera, skills behind it, or any other moaning, whining, tiesto bashing, skum bitching type of comment you are about to make.
From what i've heard the "remake" sounds pretty much as the old one did, but with some Tiesto percussion. Oh, and the tragedy, of removing the vocal... doh! p.s. it isn't the Shah remake either..

Post, I thought everyone would be sick of these garbage threads by now. Why don't we talk about good music for a change?

i'm not going to bother trying to defend trance to you here, that isn't the point, go ahead & listen to what you like. but writing it off purely based on the fact that one man decided to remix an old song & drop it into one of his sets is, for the want of a better term, incredibly retarded. when put like that i'm sure you can agree, too

1.) Was there a need for this? No. He could just as easily drop the original and get the same exact reaction.
2.) Am I writing it off just because of one man? Lord no. This is just another little piece added to the larger puzzle of why I don't like Trance anymore. It could've been anyone remixing this and I would've said the same exact thing. The more I see crap like this being done the more interest/faith/whathaveyou I lose.

it's branding
think about how many people on limewire and soulseek will label this
DJ Tiesto - Solarcoaster
from now on

Hence why I said "need."
Tijs "wants" it.

Wow, never knew it was a cheap ripoff. Thanks for the info!

1. when did need ever come into it? if the original is that perfect then where was the need for any remixes to get commissioned in the first place? hell there isn't any need for him to play any of the tracks he chooses.. he has his own reasons & unless you're in the crowd at one of his nights then they shouldn't affect you.
2. if it makes you lose interest in tiesto, then that's fair. but are you going to end up liking the rare new decent trance tune less just because tijs remixed solarcoaster once? i'd guess not.. small things like this shouldn't change your view of an entire genre, that's basically the point i'm trying to make
Posted by nefardec on Oct-02-2007 21:52:
well, as others have said it's not really a cheap ripoff. I just wanted to point out that the history of electronic music is a history of remaking and re-presenting existing music.

You're missing my point. It's not just this act by Tijs that makes me lose interest. There have been way too many "200x" remakes and useless remixes as of late that are done that don't change much, if anything except up the fame of said producer or DJ. This is another one of those. This incident alone hasn't made me lose interest, it's the entire concept that seems to be so popular lately that has done so. That, and lack of creativity in general, but that's a whole different discussion.
I never write off anything just because of one bad experience. There are tunes by my favorite artists that I think are shit, but they're still my favorite artists. Some of my favorite DJs are DJs who had a very shitty set the first time I saw them, but as a DJ I know that everyone has off-nights so I'm willing to give DJs more than a couple of chances. Writing off a collective group based off of one thing is absolutely silly.

That's because it isn't.
Posted by SuspicionVandit on Oct-03-2007 05:58:
oh c'mon. The youtube video was only a clip. Let's just assume that it starts off with a huge breaks sequence and ends with a full scale orchestra, all co-produced over 3 years by by James Horner in the isolation of an igloo in Anchorage.

so what if he mad a remix? wasn't cafe del mare remixed by 200 other djs?

I don't think people whould had whined this much if he'd actually properly remixed it but this seems to be just a remake and they haven't really been very fashionable lately...

Agree with that, its not the remixes themselves, but the lack of quality on them that seems to be the problem.
