Water on the knee is a generic term used to describe knee swelling which occurs when excess fluid accumulates in or around the knee joint. There are many common causes for the swelling, including arthritis, injury to the ligaments or meniscus, or when fluid collects in the bursa. This condition is known as prepatellar bursitis.
Sounds mega.

Ice and ibuprofen are your friends right now.
I used to rollerblade (aggressive skating--as in, grinding rails and ledges and jumping gaps), and believe me when I tell you that I've had more than my fair share of swollen knees.
Ah, fond memories.
its my back thats been aching like fuck lately....
lack of sleep and too much work
Stop being a damn wussburger Mikey!
You really should be RICEing your leg though, if you aren't already.
REST ICE COMPRESSION ELEVATION!
Yea I've got some ice on it now and I've cracked open the anti-inflammatories.
Great news though, the swelling is getting worse.
When you say 'caving in on itself' Mikey, are you describing a feeling of instability? Like the knee is just ready to give out from underneath you?

Exactly; I'm hardly looking for sympathy. I'm just more curious as to why one part of the body would be in pain when the injury was far from it.
