More votes means a higher spot. A higher spot means that a DJ is in higher demand, which means he can charge more......and so forth

if ur not good at djing whats difference does it make..???

being good at djing isn't a prerequisite to making money.

Posted by DigiNut on Oct-09-2007 23:23:

I happen to think that Christopher Lawrence is a good DJ. Or was at least; I haven't listened to any of his stuff from the past few years, so I can't comment on anything recent.

That obviously doesn't excuse this kind of cheating, but seeing as how it was the same marketing manager in both cases, I'm more inclined to blame him than I am to blame the DJs. It's possible that he offered to cheat for both of them and they both accepted, but it seems more likely to me that he just went ahead and did it without their knowledge or consent. I don't know much about DJ Dan, but Christopher Lawrence is a family man who's never made a particularly big deal about his DJing, or asked for ridiculous amounts of money.

And to be honest, I don't think he'll be that miffed over being disqualified from this. Tiesto, Armin, Sasha or Digweed would all undoubtedly shit their pants if it happened to them.

CL is a Great D.J

regardless of any list

Posted by southbound24 on Oct-09-2007 23:41:

wait a sec, you mean DJ Dan being in the top 10 was a farce, im shocked

Posted by TranceGrooves on Oct-10-2007 00:05:

Majority of you people who commented on CL & Dj Dan don't even listen to those Djs or that particular genre of music (Trance) so i am curious to know how you come to a conclusion that they suck? I am not a huge Dj Dan fan myself nor do i know much about him so i will leave him out of this but i do know alot about CL as i been following his career since 1999. CL is a remarkable DJ.

He is one of the best in the business both in person and on stage. I am disappointed to read about this cheating thing but i will give him the benefit of doubt that maybe, just maybe he didn't know what his manager was upto. You see clubs around the world including our very own GUV tends to book DJs based on these stupid polls such as DJ Mag. Whoever has higher rankings = good Dj = many bookings across the globe. Now the more bookings a dj has that means more money he makes which in turn ofcourse means more money in the pocket of the managers. So it could very well be possible that the manager was up to no good and didnt care if he destroyed his DJ's reputation in the process.

We have been crying for years that this Dj Mag poll is complete shit as it takes away much credit from people who actually deserve it. People who make the original tunes for big time djs and those Djs get to buy those tunes and slap their name on them. CL is not one of those big time Dj. All of his work has been done by himself and no one else. Regardless of this DJ Mag Poll bullshit to me CL is still one of the prime and most outstanding Dj around just because he is atleast original in his work. It will be very interesting to see how his and Dj Dan's gigs are effected from here on forward. It will be nice if people could understand that if they do not like the type of music being played by a ceratin dj that doesn't mean that the dj sucks. Try looking at the bigger picture as to what that Dj has accomplished over his career.

cheers

Its funny reading this list because the other 8 DJs are people you would expect to be in the top 10, while christopher lawrence and dj dan obviously stand out as being much higher listed than you would expect, not that they are bad DJs, they just arent as popular as the ohter 8 on the list.... the other 8 are pretty much the same as the djlist.com ratings.....

I was always amazed to see DJ Dan win highest rated _________, i think i have seen it a few times.... i do really like him, but i always knew that he wasnt extremely popular or anything... maybe this poll fixing has been going on for a while

it's better this way .... cheatin' is cheatin'

DJ MAG should always done this internal.

I know...and to resort to that level is just a joke...but I think many of us suspected something like this was in the air...I thought it was just a myspace vote for me please thing but this is worse...IMO they just took away a top 10 place from DJ Sammy

Actually clubs generally don't give a shit if a DJ is "good" or not. They want heads through the door, and if someone is in the top 10, he/she is more likely to be more of a draw.

The way I see it being in the top 100 is probably as important as having a dj who knows how to open up for a headliner properly.
