Well as far as I'm concerned, once they're passed out they're not going to know about whatever goes on after that, so how they're killed past that point really shouldn't matter.

I also think it's a bit ironic when people try and cite cruel and unusual punishment in the death sentences of murderers, child rapists, etc.

Edit: Oh fuck off, d.case.

i've watched far too much law & order to care what happens to big time criminals like SVU and CI. i hope they all burn in hell and i am 100% in favor of the death penalty. was he worried about 'cruel and unusual' when he kidnapped, raped, and sodomized two 11 year old boys? I don't think so.

But there seems to be strong evidence that this isn't actually what happens and that the experience is extremely painful and could be considered cruel because essentially we're incapacitating someone's ability to move their muscles, but they're concious and feel excruciating pain.

I'm not saying that I think this is necessarily a reason to stop doing it, because I really do give fuckall about the suffering of those who've caused countless others to suffer, but the assumption that we make inmates "pass out" and then kill them may not be as accurate as you think.

stabler wouldn't care either. i watched him smash a desk drawer on some perps chest yesterday. i think stabler should be judge, jury, and executioner.

Agreed, completely. Though I think it should be a combination of Stabler and Gene from WHAS...

Gene Stabler - think of the possibilities.

Dude! I saw that last night too! That guy was raping the boys in some juvenile correctional facility. When he tried to run I though, "watch for Stabler with the clothes line OH MY GOD!!". Awesome.

Because you'd be doing the exact same thing that led to that person's punishment in the first place.

Prisons don't exist in order to punish - their primary function is to re-socialise the inmate in a safe environment (although it's been failing miserably at that).

the death penalty should be abolished

and the era of Gladiators should be resurrected.

There are cases in which I believe they should.

Maybe... I'm just stating what they're currently for, but I wouldn't like to begin an argument over its validity because I just know a bit about the history of Law, but ain't no expert myself.

i heard about this on the news. it is pretty disgusting, i feel really sad for the 2 boys and he should be executed, ppl like this dont deserve to live, he doesnt deserve a 2nd chance at life.
