Yeah, I hate that too.

That's one of the few times when I use winamp: I keep playing one song on repeat so I've got an actual favourite among the top 10

So, let this thread continue as a roll call and post your profile!

i don't think a track gets to your tops out of nowhere, u just don't notice how often you listen to it, nutting like that ever happened to me, my lists and tops are really what i listen to, well the beatles are a lil bit higher then i'd want them to be, it's just because i've got all of their songs so it's pretty often that winamp starts playing them randomly, i do enjoy them, but not that much

Seriously - I know I haven't listened to that track that many times, I don't even like it that much and I rarely even have it in my playlist. I haven't even been able to surpass it with my own tracks which I always listen to dozens of times while producing. I have no idea how it got there.

It hasn't happened with any other track, just that one.

maybe there's smth wrong with tags?

In what way?

if the song doesn't have correct id3v2 tag, the site doesn't get the information about it, it doesn't log that you have listened to it
edit: i had some probs cause of that, and so my tops/rankings really weren't right, cause lots of the tracks i listened to didn't have the tags, so i used some tagger, musicbrainz maybe, i dunno, and everythings fine now, every track has nice tags and get logged

How does that explain one track getting 30 plays out of thin air?

dunno, but that may explain why tracks which you are producing aren't up there.
and when you listen to a track hundred times and it isn't logged there, and when you accidently listen to some shit 30 times, and it's the shitty song which is up in your top, it may seem that it's out of thin air.

No, they are all there, they're taking all the spots except #1. Everything is tagged correctly.

Oh, I think I know what the problem may be.

The system sometimes sends multiple requests, and it results in an explosion of "scrobbles", that is, the same tune being scrobbled a few times. It's happened to me twice.
