fair enough but I'm still waiting for my list, complete with ratings, review and so on. What is this Cherry and Academy like?

(Allied hates the holiday partier and massives, it's sooo apparent )

I just hate when they talk shit

I am the exact same when I go out of town for a party or hit something up on vacation- I do get where you're coming from...

as for these clubs, they are just dance clubs, you go with your crew, get drunk, dance, chill etc, then you all figure out where the after party is and the party moves there.

The best afterhours in montreal is not the one you buy tickets for-

cherry oct 5th

Posted by Spin Laden on Oct-15-2007 20:34:

actually, I'd prefer a massive with simply locals and not so corporate. But I have a feeling it would be missing some of the dirtiness of these big ones (I won't go into detail about that), and I think some of you know what I'm talking about

Getting back to the thread, one way to get guys into going out to edm clubs is to bring them out to fair sized joints with good music and lots of women for them to look at. When they become selective later on, then they can check out other edm places around the city and stuff.

i guess things are different in ottawa... over here i hardly know anyone who doesnt listen to house or at least go out and party to it...

i think my friends party more than i do

there is a definite cultural barrier here

I know people in Montreal even who don't party to edm at all.. so who's guilty of sweeping generalizations now, huh?

I have friends from all walks, party due to having 9-5 and perhaps living here, other reasons, etc. 'Threadstarter said he has friends that don't go out much.. if they do come out with him, then this is the advice I'd give him. Okay, I'm out.. gotta see go home and pop my "Cherry"

Posted by Spin Laden on Oct-15-2007 22:53:

hmmm, I just visited edmm.ca and I didn't see Cherry or any of those places listed there

Well, I'm sold on the pic.. looks like my kind of place for sure. Hopefully it's like that in person. Quite often the EDM scene is too many guys getting together to get all fucked up and chat about the dj's setup/tracks sometimes..and even TA here is mostly guys.

As for massives, BeB and Resolution 07 stunk (and Sensation was marginally better, imo) and my reviews reflected that, but at least they had a good ratio. We'll see the next trip to Montreal, as I sometimes go with guys who haven't done Montreal (nor edm) that often and don't wanna do the 20-dudes-for-every-girl ratio type of thing.

come to dance and have a good time and you will

also, youll find most information about house music in montreal isn't really going to be found on google, and if it is its just going to be a small portion.

do a search for cherry on facebook

you're the holiday partier.

nothing wrong with that but id be careful with any generalizations you have about montreal and its house music nightlife.

holysmokes Greg!

If thats isn't some elitist bullshit then tell me what it is?

The way NOW i see it after many years in the "scene", is that you're either:

-a crackcoaine addict
-a looser with no job
-a promoter
-a student that doesn't know where he's going in life

to be able to party all the time and not be the "holiday" type as you describe.

Pick one of these "generalizations" Greg, where do you fit?

Posted by malek on Oct-16-2007 14:34:

P.S. Which massives have you been at?

There's absolutely nothing that compares about the hot girls in there in Montreal, I am sorry, but you are wrong.

Posted by Spin Laden on Oct-16-2007 14:44:

there is some truth to that. I have other party friends who do Vegas, WMC, Europe and they keep coming back to Montreal. The only beef I had is that edm is quite often mostly male with the exception of Beach Club and those massives.

That said, if Allied re-reads the thread, he'll see that I didn't make blanket statements about Montreal, but about the edm scene in general. Kudos to the elitist (lol) for pointing out some new spots for me and maybe for your website too (if these clubs are indeed anything to write home about).

thats why i goto beachclub.

Posted by malek on Oct-16-2007 14:49:

This is not about Montreal vs world. But how Greg has gone overboard with his statements.

If you want hot chicks, you go to opera on a saturday night, you'll have more choice than you can handle.

If you want good music, then check the boards for your favorite djs and go there, hot chicks are a bonus since chicks and edm don't go together.

/blank generalization

I have a job so were cool there.... I'm not addicted to crack... I promote a bit that's true... and while I am a student, I wouldn't say I don't know where I'm going.

I know a bunch of people who party all the time and really don't do drugs, but then again, theres a whole lot of people who party all the time who do a lot of drugs lol. You make some good points about people who go out every weekend but if you think the only people who know about real house music parties in the city are only people who fit under those generalizations you are sorely mistaken.

Fact of the matter is generalizations are never going to work so don't even bring that shit to me

And if you think chicks and edm don't go together you are wrong.

maybe at afterhours they don't as much, but afterhours is a fucked up concept anyways, it's no suprise the ratio is so off there.

I like a club where I dont have to dress up like an idiot to go (I did that for enough years already) into a chill enviroment where people can just dance and have a good time. That's it.

Peace out

Posted by Vermz on Oct-16-2007 14:59:

if you wanna see hot chicks just go in front of buonanotte around 12h30

Posted by Allied Nations on Oct-16-2007 15:04:

hot fake ass bitches with plastic tits and a hurtin for a sugar daddy sure

hows that for generalizations

Posted by Spin Laden on Oct-16-2007 15:15:

Club Opera plays too much hiphop to be considered a quality edm club, imo .. but then again, the threadstarter hasn't really specified what he/she's looking for.

Posted by malek on Oct-16-2007 15:16:

Greg, never said anything about house music, reread my post. Househeads connaisseurs don't all go out every day either, ask Krinker.

You were talking about people that know the scene because they are out every night (and at Cherry for a nice plug).

P.S. Chicks with real big tits exist, ask me

Opera isn't an EDM club on your average night, its where you go for great looking people, if thats what you're into.

Posted by s.p. on Oct-16-2007 15:28:

While we're at this... post some gorgeous MTL women. I've had the pleasure of talking, etc with many of them last year, I miss seeing them

Heard good things about Cherry.....

Greg where is the location?

Posted by RayRayy on Oct-16-2007 15:38:

OPera only plays house on Sunday. Saturdays its Top 40/hip-hop.

No one is out every night... only crazy people.... I'm talking people who go out consistently.

Not people who go to massives twice a year and think they have a handle on whats really going on with house in the city. Shit, I barely know shit relative to how much there is to be known about things going on in the EDM scene in Montreal. So many house music people in this city it's impossible to know it all. ALways someone doing a new night somewhere with some dj etc etc etc...

And on another note, I really don't gain anything by promoting cherry on here. I work there because I like the place, I spin there because I like the place and tell my friends about it because I like it.

If I wasn't working there I'd be partying there so it made sense.
