one can only wish. looks like NYE falls on the 28th for me

Well Mr. Raiban, the problem is... you don't look at it from a business perspective. Which is why you don't run a successful nightclub empire.

I think that Paris Hilton being at the club is more of a deterent than asset. I mean think about it, the place will be rammed with z103 kids and photographers. I could care less if Paris Hilton is going to a club in all honesty.

I have never made it out to a NYE at the Guv cause the price is damn near triple that of a regular resident night. 50 to 60 bucks at the door!!! Honestly I think hitting Montreal for Sasha and Digweed is more of a priority. I know myself and Invasionmix and a few other will be making the road trip. There are a couple vids on youtube that show what NYE at the Guv is like. For those of you that have gone before, what is the big difference between a regular Residents night and NYE besides the countdown? I'm curious cause I haven't been there before and you guys are saying it is awesome. Not that I'm an expert on nightclub marketing, but I think if the right headliners were at the Guv they would see more ppl show up for NYE, and you can count on lots of ppl going to CiRCA this year instead of the Guv.

I did Guv on NYE a few years ago.. it was actually a surpisinly good time. And $50-60 is cheaper than most clubs on NYE still.

typical clubs on richmond that host a NYE party will charge more than what guv charges and only have their resident dj(s). also included are a countdown and glass of champagne. guv also offers that but you have many more rooms to choose from.

i went to guv's NYE last year and had a great time. i will be there again this year.

sorry to burst your bubble but Guv has been rammed with z103 kids for a long time....and it seems everyone has a camera at clubs nowadays

I was talking more about paparazzi and press. And there will certainly be more z103 kids there. Besides I have been there many times where it seems to be less of a mainstreem crowd. Anyone thinking they will get within 50 feet of her is going to be sadly mistaken. So what is the allure?? Still its just my opinion on the whole Paris Hilton thing.

and what exactly is bad about that? (in terms of management, not as an EDM lover)

They are getting people who wouldn't normally come the guv to see what its all about. And I guarantee you that there will be a few ppl who will be experiencing guv for the first time and will love the place and want to come back for more.

So they are essentially increasing their clientele. Is that bad practice in business?

Hey its just my opinion. Increasing peoples perspective on clubbing isnt a bad thing at all. Hopefully they will enjoy the scene, but I just dont get to excited about celebs, and to go back to my original point the place will be flooded with press and security, which I can totally see as a buzzkill.
