All he said was that they were taking advantage of being able to market themselves as _____ of Deep Dish. How anyone could possibly take anything else away from his post is a mystery to me.

So if by taking the "pole out of my ass" you mean "becoming capable of understanding something that is either unable to be understood or too contrived to matter", then I think I'll leave it in.

'capitalizing' refers to something done in order to make more of something than is either expected or deserved. reality tv stars try to capitalize on their 2 minutes of fame. they're attaching their names to something they didn't create ("so and so from the real world," etc.).

as for how you could have figured out that it was partly in jest, I'd say it's not too hard to guess that people who post in a thread about a group's members know who the members of that group are.

1. If you feel like digging up some obscure and narrow definition of the word "capitalize" from "Inconspicuous Dictionary Monthly", sure, I guess that's what it could mean. But in the practical world, no definition of the word "capitalize" contains anything about unfair gain or getting more than expected or deserved.

capitalize

7. to take advantage of; turn something to one's advantage (often fol. by on): to capitalize on one's opportunities.

2. Oh, lol I guess?

This all just seems absurdly pedantic - even for a grammar Nazi like you.

This thread consists of equal parts 'fail' and 'try too hard'.

+1

I never thought of it this way, and you have a good point. I'm sure they would not have actively thought of this, or maybe one of their mangers/marketing team members would have, but I do believe their split with the best of intentions.

I can understand their reasoning, having played together so much, and such long sets. Spending so much time together, weekend after weekend, night after night, and all that time in the studio!

You would really have to like your partner.

lol. it was a semi-serious post, since, by the way he wrote it, it sounded as if he felt they were unjustly profiting from using the name 'Deep Dish.' I didn't actually think he was unaware of who Deep Dish is. Some of you need to get the poles out of your asses, or at least switch from steel to rubber or something else more flexible.

Seems like I was the only one to understand what YOU were getting at.

They must be sick of the sight of each after this long. Helps to keep the music fresh if they can go off in their own directions.

I was able to see Dubfire when he swung by Philly and he really played a great set. I don't know if he is consistant but he really rocked the place proper while he was here!
