Sound Academy sounds lame, but I want to hear that system fully cranked. The soundproofing should allow that to happen...

great that theyre doing stuff to it but sound academy doesnt have any ring to it, like for a club... academy is too "academic" sounding. and i guess i have to change my signature...

Still unsure about the name myself, however when i first heard the Name for RPM -- Guvernment i thought it sounded lame , however now it is a world renowned name that Toronto can be proud of, same goes for ministry of sound when it first opened back in 1988 I thought WTF, you could go on and on but a name is just that----a name

haha you're old! (but respect)

Does this mean they can use their sound system fully now?I doubt it not as long as those pathatic Islanders are still there.

From what I heard the old kick ass sound system(which was never really used the way it was suppose to be) got replaced with much smaller one.

I agree with you....the docks is a perfect name for that space considering its more then just a club that is there.

I can see this becoming just another VIP Bottle Service club.....its really sad that all clubs feel they have to go this way.

It's true that it's sad for the avrage person, but these vip's bring the club lots of money it's good buissness.

For the most part the VIP sections are typically filled with people who are not VIPs.......they just want to spend $200.00 for a bottle of bad vodka

That's true but that's still $195 more then a kid who goes to docks drops a pill and just buys a bottle of water.

But do the bottle service douches roll out in gangs of 50, every week?

Posted by Abercrombie on Oct-23-2007 15:26:

In Caracas Venezuala, bottle service for vodka cost me only $25 with tip. That same bottle cost $5 in liquor stores there.

That's 5x the price of a retail bottle, so it's as if clubs would be charging from 125-150 here.

One thing everyone confuses the space with is a club
Sound Academy (and the docks before it) was/is not a club , it is an event space
Primarily concerts and corporate event useage , club nights are only around 10-15% of the business of the venue.
As for bottle service , we have been doing bottle service all over the venue since that craze started , I was right when I predicted that Guv would end up with a bottle service area and so will all clubs whilst this lucrative (for the venue) trend continues.
Personally i hate the whole bottle service scene , but hey , whatever floats your boat.

+1 .. Bottle Service and Toronto's sudden interest in the re-surgence of House music go hand in hand i find

it's like hey.. New York, London, Paris, and Miami are all doing it so as Toronto we have to as well

edit: btw. techead, do you know the reasons why the club was sold to new ownership??

Posted by techead on Oct-23-2007 16:05:

Yes I do and I am not at liberty to discuss the reasons---sorry

The $25/bottle for bottle service, was served anywhere you stood in the club. They either brought it to your shelf, or they brought a little stool to wherever you were sitting, and served it right there. They didn't have booths, they just brought it to wherever you were.
