Here is what I don't get. IM at number 9. How many times have they actually put on a iDJ set? I heard of one time that they did it as an encore. They shouldn't even be considered.

And yes, G&D should be at 23 or lower. They have become irrelevant

hmm, well when their new album and the andain album comes out next year, I bet they'll go back up. they have been hiding well this year.

Until they do and it's been decided that both or either are good albums, then they are irrelevant.

They totally lost me on the whole Big Top project. Thoroughly disappointed.

this is what I got, don't ask. why tiesto jumped up to the 2nd spot and PvD droped to #4 is dumb. I don't think Markus Schulz should be so low at #13 either. Oh and G&D at #23, but that maybe cause they didn't come out with any new albums this year. Anyway- hope this is the right one. if not, i have some asses to kick.

Steph, you don't have to lie to make friends. You know that right?

Posted by Zild on Oct-23-2007 21:44:

Damn you guys are blind last year was a HUGE year for Digweed. He probably hit up most cities twice. I personally know a few of people who became Digweed fans just this past year.

Posted by Zild on Oct-23-2007 21:46:

I think I've seen him at least 3 times in the past year.

I like Digweed but not to be number 3 IMO. Deffently a top 10 guy though and i REALLY REALLY like the fact he is in front of Sasha lol. I like Digweed way more than Sasha do to some personal reasons but i guess they are what they are

you might be right about that. guess I just didn't pay much attention to digweed this year.

Sharper, you seem to love trance for some reason. I just wanted to ask you if you've ever listened to other genres of electronic music?

I've seen and heard all of your Armins, Fairies, PVDs and Tiestos and they play the same tracks, their own horrible productions and banging 'anthems'. No offense, but why vote for the same people year after year? Have you ever considered giving Sven Vath or Richie Hawtin a chance? Have you heard of other 'Texan' talents like Matthew Dear, Maetrik or Lusine? They are all playing in the best clubs in Germany and around the planet.

For some reason, I think it's mainly ignorance, people are always driven by "mass media" which makes me realize that history repeats itself, wether it is politics or music. People will always vote for the prettiest hair, the nicest posters and the overpriced commercial.

You know the irony of this is that Matthew comes to his hometown, and 50 people show up (I think it was 35 in Austin). When he plays at '10 days off','5 days off', DC10 Ibiza and/or Fabric in London he fuckin' sells out every venue (with and without the band).

This tells you something about the majority of texas electronica fans, I can't picture a scene that will look exactly the same in 10 more years. A scene to remain healthy must keep on growing and promoters need to get their education.

lol @ you blaming me and calling me ignorant for big trance names on the djmag list.
actually, i do listen to other genres, especially house. I support many that come through to play shows as well as tons of local talent. I don't talk about it here, because I keep my love of trance here. I talk about house stuff over on DDM, since that's the majority of talk there.
I've always said it's a popularity and looks poll - it always has been and always will. Don't blame it on me, blame it on society. That's just how the world is. Tough.
many of my all time fav djs aren't even on the list. i can accept this, can you? lol

edit - pllthh, i reread my post and it seems I may be angry. That's not the case. I took it a little offensive, but not as much as it seems i did.

good, cuz it wasn't meant to be offensive. It's funny cuz i had a dj from the top 50 in my show! hooray hooray?!

BTW, this is not the official list. Good job! Anyways, don't expect much...

Exactly what annoys me about at least Dallas. Even when the "Top" DJ's come to Dallas, they feel the need to play nothing but classics. Example - Above & Beyond two weeks ago. Majority was washed out over played stuff. How about playing the new shit for once? It's amazing why the Dallas scene has gone from a great one to an ok one....

And it's not about promoters getting their education, it's about the fans getting their's. Whenever someone pushes the envelope on bringing something different, they lose their ass because no one shows up. That's why we keep seeing the same over, and over, and over...

and you mean big fag trance dj's. not sasha, not digweed, not zabiela, not nic fanciulli, not sander k, not danny howells.... i can go on forever
the reason being about the same shit over and over is cause yall are listening to TRANCE. there's not enough new music for them to play, and the new sucks. i go to miami and somehow end up at a trance party at nikki beach, and they are still playing silence..hmm. every other genre like all types of house are pretty current. this is FACT.i hear this from trance dj's all the time. and this is why i stopped listening to trance like back in 2000.even though trance popped my cherry, i cant stand it.
um now that i think about it ... above and beyond were one of the dj's at that nikki beach party. its wmc , everyone wants new shit.
