God damn josh4, good find with that video. I'm a solid 3 or more years older than almost everyone in my classes due to me sucking at school, taking a year off, then being very indecisive with a major. As a resulf, almost everyone in my classes seems to have shit for brains. It'd be enjoyable to laugh at them if i was there by choice to laugh at them, but i'm actually trying to get something out of my classes, not just pass the time till the weekend starts (wednesday or thursday, depends on who you ask) and the binge drinking starts. wooooooooooooocollegeee!!!!!1

p.s. there's one 28 year old dude who i sometimes sit next to in one of my classes, he's chill. he was bored the other day so he broke out some chomsky to read. i was like wtf dude, good call. and he had more in his bag! winrar

I think we all inherently have a need for power; to be greedy and such. Misanthropes who have altruistic attitudes need to see that they are exactly like the people who they hate in some form or another.

Personally I really appreciate them - they provide free and unlimited entertainment, graciously donate nearly all of their money to those of us prudent enough to invest in the consumer economy rather than participating in it, and any time I'm feeling down all I have to do is interact with them, and I'm reminded how much better I am than nearly everybody else. It brightens my day right up.

So here's to the mindless masses, may they continue to be as blissfully weak and incompetent as ever.

HA!

Love it, you just summed up my own manifesto completely, even though I've never pre-conceived it like that.

Well laughing is not very nice missy

But yes, I can imagine that is very true. You are welcome to use my failure to make yourself feel better anytime you like hun

Is it too much to expect your neighbors to lower their damn rap music at midnight on a weekday? Instead of being snapped at shouldn't your boss appreciate that you stayed 3 hours longer than you should have when all you wanted to do was throw up and go to sleep? Or better yet have someone who owes you money pay you back and not be so damn dodgy especially since it has been 2 months? I won't have it anymore

To add to all of this I have slowly come to the realization that the number of intelligent people I run across has diminished...so not only am I being screwed over but I am being screwed over by stupid people. And I HATE stupid people.

+1 seriously know what you mean.

Maybe it's just me but I've been noticing the longer I'm here in Manhattan, the more shit like this bothers me. Yes I can control whether I let it bother me or not, but I can't control when getting on the train how people just stand at the doorway when there is plenty of space in the middle of the train. Oh wait I can control it, don't get on the train right but then preference is impractical.

Wai, I'm with you but I fear something we both need to acknowledge, living/working in manhattan is exhausting. You become desensitized to normality where normal things wouldn't bother you if you don't face it every day.

Here's a rant - people who don't prepare their metrocards and stop at the turnstile to take it out. or people who try to walk up/down escalators when it's jammed packed, then say excuse me with like 400 other people on the escalator. or people who hesitate and stop at the foot/top of an escalator to figure out where they are going. or people who stop when entering/exiting revolving doors. or people who stand in the middle of the sidewalk looking/staring. or people who walk slow and take up lane space.

most if not all of this could be resolved it we (me and you) lived/worked in areas that were not so densely populated and not have to see this happening around us all the time.

pro's n con's - gotta keep it moving fellow manhattanite!

Have you guys ever thought that maybe your idealism isn't the same as everyone else? What you misanthropes think is good for humanity isn't great for everyone else.

Posted by MeLLyMeL on Oct-25-2007 14:03:

that is why you work in the city and live somewhere else.

I drive only at night when parking is FREE.

Fuk paying 10-20 dollars for 30 mins of parking.

if you got good parking skill you pay zero but sacrifice bumps and scratches on your car from people trying to squeeze into spaces. =)

First off, I'm a little surprised that anyone would be blasting rap music late at night in your neighborhood (assuming you're still around the East Village). Then again I'm not 100% familliar with the area. I'll keep that in mind when I start apartment hunting again lol.

Sounds like you're still adjusting to NYC (x_x). It's definitely a bitch sometimes. Heck, I had to try sleeping just about every night with some crass neighbor's music blasting for at least 10 years of my life. The things do start to wear on you after a while. I'm fairly used to tuning a lot of things out nowadays. It's probably the only way not to become horribly jaded about everything, living here.

Again, it's mainly just the high population density. The more people there are per square foot, the more likely you are to run into fucktards. .. I think I'm a pretty nice guy. Even though I grew up here I think I only really started developing thick skin and an attitude within the past 4 or 5 years. I'd like to move far far away within the next couple of years, before I become too coarse and abrasive.

On the top of my list is California, Canada, and then there's bouncing from North America completely, which doesn't seem like it would be too bad either

As for a lack of intelligent people .. eh, I'd imagine there are considerably more in the North East than across the bulk of the US *shrugs*. If it'll make you feel any better we can discuss world politics or theoretical astrophysics next time we hang out. I rarely get to chat with anyone about things like that.

My emotions are not out of control. I am not one to cry over anything unfair but I am one to talk about it bitching makes it better...I've bitched now I'm good.

As for an unfair world perhaps I truly believe I was too sheltered for too long. In all honesty all the things I really want I get and I am not just talking about things you buy which is something not many people can say. Up until very recently I have been surrounded by great people who happen to be disgustingly intelligent and I miss it. At this point I am finally taking notice of unfair things in everyday life and I just don't like it. I completely realize my complaints are insignifcant compared to some other people's and in the grand scheme of life I'm fairly lucky. I just feel the need to bitch online like many people on the c0r.

As for adjustment perhaps. Living a relatively sheltered life even for those in Oregon to Manhattan is a change.
