I think personal value most of the time is better than looking at productions always from a critical or technical aspect, as some people do on here. I think as long as you like it, that's all that matters. It may not be stuff you absolutely love or listen to now, but it has some intrinsic value that cannot be denied. I think it's unfortunate when people say "you listen to shit" or "listened to shit" when again..it's a personal thing (music taste).

that's the first version which Tiesto played for the very first time at his Dutch Dimension set in 2002. That version have slightly different vocals than the final version.

i actually heard him play the released version in a set back in 2002 just before the release of ISOS 3. That is the set where he played Solar Coaster for the very first time.

You are correcto! And I've never heard him play the released version either. Armin plays only the released version, oddly enough, and the Fatkid version takes the vocals from the unreleased one. There's little change in the lyrics, but to me it makes a world of difference.

I totally agree with personal value. I can still listen to all of my tunes in my top 20 and be transported back to that time they were released. Some are quite special to me.
I still think there are some dam shit hot tunes in my to 20 though.....ie Stringz Unlimited is a very under rated tune in my opinion.

I think it's just that if the songs are older, they've had more time to "settle" and if people still like them, then it's easier for them to call them good and thus a favorite of their's.

For example a lot of people really liked that track "Heater" recently (not trance, I know) but give it 5 years and we'll see if people are still all over it. Chances are it's too catchy and people won't give a crap about it five years from now. If they still do, then people might start to call it a favorite. I.E. if a tune is fairly recent, it's too "young" to call a favorite.
