I have a similar plan, get there early, and catch the last train back to NJ. Gets me home by 230ish, which should be juuuust fine

You can't get in without a ticket until 10. I would guess that time is your best bet to get in, though it's probably going to be the longest line wait (but at least you'll get in if you're set on going).
