This was my second MM, and I used some of the lessons learned from the first one to make this one just AMAZING!
1. VIP is a waste. I did last year, and spent all but 30 minutes there. The view from the side of the stage is simply garbage.
Solution: Bought GA tickets.
2. The wait to get in when arriving at 9pm was 3 hours. My gf's friends were "late" last year, and paid the price.
Solution: Bought Groovetickets.com will-call, and show up at 7pm. Groovetickets had a separate line, and we were inside by 8:15pm (doors opened at 7:55pm).
3. VIP lines for drinks were ridiculously long.
Solution: Bought six water bottles (for three people)from the first drink stand right when get got in .
4. Too crowded at the main stage.
Solution: Arrive early, get in early, and find some seats along the second floor, right on the railing so you have an unobstructed view. Here, you have an elevated view of EVERYTHING, and you have your own little area to dance freely.
This doesn't work if you want to move throughout the arena, but that was a non-issue for me since I wanted to stay in the main stage. Seeing kids all over the place is indeed a turn-off for me, especially when someone is asking who Judge Jules is, and then who's spinning after him.. lol
Armin definitely killed it, I'm not pro enough to name songs and version, but he did spin a lot of tracks from ASoT 323, which was a pretty fun car ride home to San Diego

i don't know why any of you are surprised it was such a big shit show... did "ALL-AGES" and "LA sports arena" not ring a bell? and 90 minute sets??? i don't see how any of that adds up to fun unless you're loaded on so many drugs that you become dettached from the reality of where you are. massives are lame. they're all about waving shiny objects around to herd cattle into a pen with no concern for quality of experience. there's little out there to suggest that'll ever change...
I thought Monster 07 was better than 06 overall.
It was gay how Judge Jules didn't play one more song at the end.
I was all up in the front and that killed the mood haha.

Had a pretty good time over all.
Best sets of the night were definitely Steve Angello & Axwell, Markus, and Armin.
Best highlights have to be the opening of Armins set when he dropped Big Sky. He opened with the same track the night he was crowned # 1 DJ in the World in London. Also when he played the Sound of Goodbye and Communication. Honestly I can't get enough of those tracks.
Shitty parts of the night was pretty much everything else that was going on. I know everybody else already said it, but I'll say it again.
-The vibe was absolutely horrible.
-Too many assholes walking around to high to even know what was going on.
-Being asked every 30 minutes "What DJ is this?"
-The heat. HAHA. I swear I almost passed out like 3 time, and I was too lazy to push through the masses of people to go outside.
-And last but not least, just too many people for the Sports Arena !!
Most likely that will be the last MM that I attend.
So......
ANYBODY TAKE ANY FUCKING PICS??????

why does it sound like everyone here had a shitty night @ monster?
I had a blast. the house tent was not crowded if you went to the left side of the speaker. I never went back to the main room after IF...way too hot. well yah there's nothing you can do about it.
I think it's important if everyone just goes in /w a positive mindset and attitude, things will turn out better. traffic is a bitch yes, deal with it , we're in LA.
pros-
awesome music (digitalism , steve angello , IF , Felx, Reza)
many people dancing in the house room /w tons of dance circles going on
met cool people
everyone having a good time
cons-
none
I got my moniez worth
man, i thought the west coast was the place where people were supposed to be chill.
i came in from NY for this thing, and i have to say, i was not disappointed. sure, i woulda liked some lazers, and it wasnt done too professionally, but i kinda liked the 'organic'-ness of the event, you didnt have sponsers, security guards being assholes, lots of fights, etc.
have you ever been to a really packed show? because it wasnt even half as bad as a pvd show in new york, and i was all the way in front.
the girls looked great, and i woulda liked a little more interest in the music, over the interest in finding a spot to do drugs, but who am i to tell people how to spend their halloween.
armin, opening with release yourself, made the evening for me.
be good, and if youre in new york ill take you to shows that you can complain about, or not complain about

Even though the sets are shorter... its so full of energy it makes it worth it to me. Getting asked if I had/wanted drugs and saying "No" because I'm a clean kid. Finally, a little Asian chick that grabbed my hand and said, "Don't be sad... be happy... you're here!" As per why I was upset... last year's MM was my first massive and my gf came with... this year... 2 weeks prior she left me... and emotions just flooded all night through my head. Bad: My emotion being so strong All the kids wanting light shows sitting all over the place, and always in the way. Fewer people in any form of costumes... sucks to see that huge of a drop off. The main stage sound in the stands sucked. Indifferent: Infected Mushroom... not my cup of tea. Last comment: Have some pictures... and they are up on photobucket... in reverse order... PHOTOS HERE!!!! |
wrongwrongwrong
The massive 07 was exactly what I expected, and it was sick!!
When u head to one of these , you either have to get there early, or expect to wait in line. Skip will call, and have your tickets mailed.
VIP was definitly worth it, as they were letting people take 4 drinks at a time (did someone really complain about warm water?).
The tunes where unbelieveable (Markus was great, Armin tore it the f-k up and Judge Jules was bangin).
The crowd was great, everyone having a good time, and so much eye candy. Go to a pvd show at crobar in NYC before you complain about the packed crowds and heat.
Will post pics soon, took about 80 from the floor.
Posting pics in a bit.. also uploading videos as we speak.. Im rewatching the videos and damn that remix of advanced that judge jules played was really bangin. I think the only way i can enjoy monster these up coming years is to just chill in the bleachers.
www.myspace.com/waterproofpaper
Pictures are slowly uploading... my youtube videos uploading faster lol.
I couldnt even keep my jacket buttoned up because it was too damned hot. I think im gonna go smuggle a camcorder in for TAO or something.
Does anyone have a tracklist for armins set???

Here you go.. Sorry its so shaky those kids like to push
. Ill post the playlist once everything is finished uploading.
I actually had a great time and I normally hate events like this. But since this was my 2nd MM, I knew what to expect and still wanted to check it out. YES, it is f....n crazy, unorganized, HOT, too many rolling kiddies and e-puddles, somewhat shady, but we're in LA and it's at the Sports Arena
. What do ya expect?! But knowing this going into it, you just try to look past that and enjoy what you're there for! (or hope you do) Of course, plenty of Vodka helps too
The worst part was getting into the place. I won't even go there.
If you like to drink
, having VIP I thought was way better. (hence the plenty of Vodka). The great VIP/bar area was on the right side of the stage with plenty of seating and unobnoxious lines and great bartenders- pourers!
The left side was beyond ridiculous and we pretty much avoided it!
I thought Armins tore it up! His set was fantastic! Couldn't believe it when I heard Perpetuous Dreamer - The Sound of Goodbye!! & Adaigo for Strings!
Markus set was really good too.
Really don't remember much of Judge Jules set!
Overall - really glad I went! We'll see about next year!
for reals, you just gotta look past all the negative. cause overall the djs threw down and if you paid at least paid attention to the music youd have an awesome time.
i agree the bartenders were trying to get me wasted last night with the amount they would poor.
Axwell fans.......an amazing mix im pretty sure A LOT of the tracks he played that night are in this set!

| Originally posted by kath I really enjoyed what I saw of Digitalism's set. But my favorite part of the night was definately Axwell and Steve Angello...they fuckin killed it!!! I was completely blown away. I thought Eric Prydz was pretty freakin amazing when I saw him at Belo on Friday, but he didn't even come close to comparing to those two. I'm really really wanna get a hold of axwell + angello and digitalisms tracklists...so will someone please post it if they get a hold of it. It would be greatly appreciated!! |
