best place for a porkchop (well, not really - pulled BBQ'd pork) sandwich is in Brunswick, GA...
i have so many fond memories from my childhood of that place. we used to stop there all the time when we drove down South to FL.
Yup. That's how it is in the south. The places that most people would be afraid of getting Deliverance'd are the best for food.

Lucid, yes it's definately worth the extra money to get some good winter tires. Blizzaks are one of the best to get (if not the best).
However, if you want them to last you a good couple seasons. Go out and buy some winter steelies (cheap hub-cap covering wheels) and wrap the blizzaks on those. Once spring rolls around (no pun intended) just put your stock wheels back on with your normal/all season tires on them.
Also, if you drive a Manual transmission vehicle. Learn or start using 'engine breaking' more in severe weather situations. Going 50MPH into 30MPH traffic might be very difficult or impossible to stop the car with break pumping or lockup alone. If you're in 5th gear, quickly dump the tranny into 3rd (or 2nd dependant of vehicle) and the car will bog down and slow the car quite effectively even in the worst weather conditions.
EDIT: Doh! I didn't read entire thread before making a response. It's seems you've already got the bases covered for replacement winter wheels and tires. 
Weak sauce (not the BBQ). I lived in MN for 21 years and never once did my family own a car with winter tires. Those are for old people and Iowans.
but driving in snow with all-season tires is so much fun!
/never had snow tires, and could navigate snow no problem. granted, hills not so much, but oh man. used to work delivery and to pull into the parking lot from the street, if yo'ure coming from campus you have to drive past it then essentially turn right 180 degrees into the parking lot, and when it snowed out i could pull that thing without using the breaks at all
god driving in the snow is fun with no traction
